In certain municipalities in Ontario one is restricted to cartridges of '.275 caliber ". I checked with the Ministry and they interpret that to be a reference to bullet diameter. As a result, I am considering a cheap rifle that would conform and came across this old Portuguese mauser. Anyone familiar with this cartridge? Year is claimed to be 1904 and the rifle in good condition. Sounded fun. Asking price $299. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

These rifles were manufactured by Mauser for Portugal, and have a good reputation.

Original military load was 155 gr. at 2350 fps and 1908 fp energy.

No dies or brass to sell with the gun so I will probably look elsewhere. Thanks for the input. I think 6.5x55 is probably the best alternative.
