There is a large sporting goods store at a Mall in South Africa that seemed to have most everything one would want. Warning the price on everything is very high. Ask your outfitter about availability.
You can take enough to hunt fir a couple off weeks in your checked baggage.

I was at the mall to by the Tambo Airport and they have a ton of different ammo. Don't know about the 500/416 though???

Rosenthal's in NE downtown Cape Town has a wide selection of ammo. I remember 404J, 300 H&H, and 9.3x62.
