Anyone have a powder preference for loading 180 grn in the Whelen

Barnes should have several different loads in their loading guide on their website.

I’ve had good luck with RL 15. Surprised it’s not on that list

I have been shooting the factory Remington bullets in 200 gr both flat point and pointed soft point. From 358 Winchesters and 350 Rem Mags. All were so effective this box of 180 gr TTSXs sit unloaded so far. Some day I'll get busy and do something. I have 4064 and Varget for them. Might have to go with something faster that is on my shelf. Maybe that pound of VV 540 should be used. Anybody have a tested load for it? Sorry if it is OT, but barely. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

The Sierra manual shows CFE223 producing fantastic velocities with bullets up to 250 grains. I’m sure you could figure out a reasonable starting load from the Sierra data.

Hey Odinsraven. Is that post from Jefferry 404 legitimate? I don't know him. Thanks!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
