via 26 more jumbos killed with cyanide in Hwange – New Zimbabwe 14/10/2015

RANGERS in Hwange National Park have discovered the carcasses of 26 elephants at two locations, additional victims of cyanide poisoning.

Bhejani Trust and the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority made the announcement on Wednesday, a week after 14 other elephants succumbed to similar poaching tactics.

According to the agency and Bhejani Trust, which undertakes joint animal monitoring and welfare work with the parks agency, the 26 dead elephants were found on Tuesday.

Fourteen tusks were recovered from these elephants and others were also removed but not recovered.

Parks spokesperson Caroline Washaya Moyo said rangers found 16 of the elephants in an area known as Lupande before stumbling on 10 others in Chakabvi.

Washaya-Moyo said no arrests have been made and investigations are in progress.

Not sure that country knows what to do or how to do it. I'm sure that the world would be outraged if hunters had just shot 40 elephants. But native poachers not even worth of the back page

Terrible news...

I hope that they can make some arrests. Becoming way too common...... Bruce

Sad, but no outrage b/c they weren't killed by evil white hunters.

What a tragedy. Truly outrageous. Maybe if they gave poachers a very very tough sentence it would help. Not sure but from what I've heard most poachers get light time.

Very sad news. They need to do something about this! If the hunter is gone the poacher rules

I just went through and read the comments that people are posting, if you need a good laugh you just need to read a few of them. I can't figure out where some of these people get their ideas from. One wants to pull all the tusk out of all elephants so that poachers can't get them, another wants to transplant them to Australia to let them roam free. Then there are some that want to dye the tusk so that it is unusable.

No wonder nothing makes any sense anymore when you try to carry on a conversation with some of them.

There was some nonsense about dyeing tusks and rhino horn on facebook today. They will believe what ever is put in front of them.
