The spotted hyena or laughing hyena is an interesting species. It is long believed that they are primarily scavengers, eating what is left behind or stealing what was hunted from other predators. And although this is true of the Hyena, studies show that as much as 90% of what they eat is hunted by the pack. This makes Hyenas highly successful hunters.

An excellent Kudu bull was taken with us in perfect conditions. The Kudu is one of those majestic animals which requires a slow stalk and a steady hand in order to make a success of the hunt. Many hunters would be able to tell the story of how they spent days looking for the Grey Ghost.

Bushpig? In daylight? Yup!
In areas where the bush isn't over-hunted and nature is in harmony, even the night critters feel safe to roam around. At Kwalata, managing our hunting areas is of key importance as this is what ensures sustainable use, and an excellent hunting experience!
