What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Sacrilege! Don’t even get me started on smartwatches. (Don’t mind me just causing trouble in the watch thread again and I haven’t even had a drink today!) Cheers.

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Please don’t take what I said as a personal attack on you or your watch. I simply like watches and that is my personal critique/opinion of what she chose to wear. She’s free to wear whatever she wants.

Maybe she has man sized wrists lol. I’m pretty sure she bought it gray market as well IIRC from the article “to pass down to her family” Kudus to you if you got yours for MSRP

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

A Daytona is a hunk of a watch. Sure it’s “only” 40mm but add in the 3 crowns and it’s 12.4mm thick and weighs nearly 200 grams. It’s hardly a woman’s watch even in the era of flavor flav style clocks on people’s wrists. I’ve never personally found mechanical chronographs to be all that useful...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Congrats and nice piece. I’ve been wearing ol reliable the past week or so. I haven’t been hunting but I have caught a few walleye with it on if that counts. I guess I shot a starling trying to roost in my soffit too so maybe it does count.

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

I was meaning technology wise. Co axial escapement and all, and the Rolex having no complications. Yes you are right on resale, still I don't think you'll find the OP as sought after as some other sports models. Both will keep time about the same and are high quality and well constructed...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

IMO you'd be behind on that trade by 2k or more if you shop around. Maybe sell the GMT then buy. This is also just my opinion but ~8k is a lot for what that watch offers. If you're deadset on Rolex I get it, but something like an Omega AT is an objectively better watch for about half the money.

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

In other news I picked up an 80s era Sandoz Diver in Hong Kong on vacation for $200. Sandoz was one of the Swiss brands killed during the quartz crisis and I’ve always had a soft spot for their Submariner homage. This one’s been rebuilt a few times and the crystal bezel and crown are replaced. I...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

The real crime here is that’s a big watch even by men’s standards and chronographs are one of the least useful complications on a watch plus on a Daytona the pushers are screwdown so it’s doubly useless unless you run around with them unscrewed all the time. Maybe she was taking her split times...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Yeah it’s possible. Your PO? If it’s running strong I probably wouldn’t worry about it. If it starts running abnormally to its baseline it’s time. One good thing about co axials vs a Swiss lever is they’re not as dependent on pallet jewel lube to maintain accuracy. Downside is I’ve seen some...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

According to my time grapher it’s running 0 seconds a day with .3m/s beat error dial up and jumps to +1 in some positions. So running well within master chronometer specs. It’s a 2020 model but looks to have not been worn much. Haven’t had it on the time grapher for very long though fedex just...

What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Too thick and most importantly no quick adjust lol! I’ve been leaning towards thinner for hunting because of how the layers of cuffs interact and annoy me. Last season wore a komandirskie tanker manual wind on leather mostly that runs about +20 a day lol.

    What’s your hunting bucket list

Bighorn (never gonna happen) Bull elephant (maybe soon budget constraints) Spear a nice yellowfin tuna (getting fatter and older every day) solid typical representative muley (try every year I can, refuse to pay or leave home unit, hasn’t happened yet)

    MY biggest questions

For what it's worth it's like hunting any where. Your spot in the states might be tough, but the neighbors could be loaded and easy etc. Here that would be shooting whitetails off alfalfa. Sit in a blind and pick one out. Don't have an alfalfa field? Might be pretty tough. One thing that is...

    2024 Deer Season

Well I did 21 miles on foot in a day and a morning but can't seem to come up with much, at least of the right thing. Passed on some little forky muleys and a little basket rack 4x4 whitetail but can't seem to find the dominant bucks. Of course I bump into this guy out of season, pretty good bull...

    The normal first timer questions

IMO the evacuation service from global rescue is more than worth it for a temp membership...Imagine you got in a car accident during a commute, they will get you home at least and not saddle your family with the logistics and financing of all that. A couple hundred bucks for a little peace of mind.

As soon as I can swing the cash and keep the missus happy. Some of those ele hunts listed here have perked my interest and got hamsters running in my head though. I still have to pay for the taxidermy and import too and distract the missus to that. Nothing special. It's an old Canon t3i and...

some crappy astrophotography I did. these are just stacks of 50 6 second exposures with no bias or offset frames, so pretty raw 3 minute exposures crux aka the southern cross the carina nebula the large magellanic cloud the sky was very interesting to me, being all upside down and...

Ahh where to start, what a trip! I am still decompressing and still haven't fully digested everything that happened and put it in a place I can recollect it all coherently. First time in Africa or on a guided trip for me late August 2024. It was a truly wonderful experience. Nick (@Nick BOWKER...

Which camera should I take to RSA and what to do with it during the hunt?

I'm having the same dilemma, the southern hemisphere being new to me I want to do a bit of astro stuff. Never seen the southern cross or the carina nebula and being at a nice dark site I'm going to take some gear but don't know how useful it will be hunting.

    Collapse Coming?

Guys it’s fine. We simply removed the sell button and the problem seems to have corrected itself. The Nekkei has rebounded. You can go back to work now and don’t forget to pay your taxes. Sources familiar with the matter say the market is sharp as a tack.

I think you will be just fine, as others have said you might want to look into the lighter bullets since monolithics are so long and your 1:9 twist but ultimately you will just have to see what your gun likes. A friend of mine is more of a waterfowler and doesn't own a rifle but some years he...

    Binocular Advice Needed

I think you'll find all of the micro bins lacking. Not unusable, I take some on vacation and carry a pair duck hunting for keeping track of cripples on the water but they're nothing like a full sized pair. No personal experience with the Steiners. I keep lower end full sized bins in all my...

    Binocular Advice Needed

It seems like you're on the right track with watching ebay. I've wanted a pair of Swarovski 10x42ELs forever but they were just too expensive for me to stomach and for some reason it never occurred to me to buy used. After watching ebay for a few months I was able to get a pair of them with...

Which countries offer the most affordable Sheep/goat hunts?

Oddly, looking into an Oryx hunt in NM is what ended up pushing me to Africa. The Oryx tag, which is a draw, plus the drive and lodging, plus the uncertainty being in a new place chasing a new animal on my own, I figured it was cheaper or equivalent to go to Africa and I'd get to chase several...

Best watch in the 1000$ range?

@Wishfulthinker580 the Phoibos Wave Master came early. Very impressed with it for the price point. The quick adjust isn't as slick as Rolex's glidelock and only has 4 positions but it's certainly better than nothing. The 4 positions are about equal to one link and I fall right on the border of...

I don't care that it was ran down with a snowmobile, or a 4 wheeler, or if it was in a contest or whatever. I don't agree with him playing with it like he did. He should have pinned it and killed it immediately (gun, club, hammer, knife, sharpened stick, don't care.) He vary well may have...

A Death Of Ethics: Is “Hunting” Destroying Itself?

Where did I say add on an extra side of wanton suffering? Death is a messy business, lots of ways to get there. I've shot a lot of things and I've ran a few things over with my car, not sure which one you could call more humane or effective. Probably comes down to the end user and application.

A Death Of Ethics: Is “Hunting” Destroying Itself?

Perhaps they should have taken their own advice. Predator control isn't "hunting" in the same sense as deer or rabbits or whatever. There is no season, there is no bag limit, there is no legal hours, there is no method of take requirements (night vision, thermals, spotlights, aircraft, all...

Thanks a lot ha, I pre-ordered one of the Phoibos Wave Master GMTs. Supposed to be saving! I wish I knew about these before I bought my Seiko SSK (same movement). Seems to pack a ton of features for $299 with the rebate. It actually checks a lot of boxes I had been looking for. On the fly...
