Bob not only will recoil velocity be very high but i think the rifle being that lite will torque out of the rest from the bench. I have a 6.2 pound 338 that does. I have a very lite 458 Lott and it torques badly.
Looks like your rifle is about ready to come together. Nice action work. I have about 50 rounds of brass now and a guy I work with is supposed to be sending me more. Who ever is doing the work on yours looks like he is on top of it. I’m thinking about going with the MPI A2 stock on one of mine...
The accumark stock is great for recoil. I have it in 338-378. I have the 340 in the fiber mark. My wife has been buying me the vanguard version for the last couple of Christmas presents. The last one in 257wby, the wood on it is very nice which isn’t the norm.
Have owned all three, 378, 416 and the 460, I still have the 378 and 416. Lost the 460 in a house fire . They are all custom guns and not wby rifles. The 416 has by far the most recoil. None have brakes.
Yeah but it’s easy to get ready for tsetse flys. Just have a friend follow you around one day and burn you with a cigarette every few minutes. About the same thing.
I fly American for work and have enough miles for 8 or 10 round trips to Africa. I don’t trust AA to get me across the country without a problem and I damn sure don’t trust them to get me to Africa on time with my gear.
Eacy to see why the hatred. The Lott has killed off almost all of the 375 based 458s and has taken most of the 458wins thunder. There would be no other reason because the Lott does everything it was designed to do. Never heard one word against it. If my 458win won’t do it I get my Lott or 470...
I would think it may hit $1000 and could easily go more. They are very big actions and can accept amount any cartridge. I have them in 416 wby 505 Gibbs and 585 nyati. Also had a 460 wby and smaller stuff. Done right they make a nice rifle. They are very strong.
Mine has a custom carbon fiber stock, it weighs less than a pound. My 458 Lott weighs 8.5 pounds with no scope. I may go red dot to keep the weight down.
