I have sheets on my phone works good for my current loads. But as a hard record I’d like to have separate. The data shows good loads but targets are nice to keep for the real good ones. Better to see than to tell about it. Haha. Although printing sheets off and running them through a hole punch...
I’ve been keeping records of my reloading data in a lined ledger book. But as I add more rifles to my collection and new loads to existing rifles I need a better system. I’m thinking a mini 3 ring binder is ideal. I’d like to keep targets from good loads as well. Should be able to store those in...
I’m starting to think maybe just erosion. in the chamber? Rifling looks ok. Was too tight for a brass brush and used a nylon one. From The marks on the barrel I assumed .22 long. But I found some info stating similar marks were .22 flobert. Which might make sense.
good call. But I don’t think so. The firing pin is for a rimfire. And the bell on my .22 is too short. I’ll post a picture of the fired case. It’s belled about 2/3rds the way around.
So I went to test fire at the farm today and found it wouldn’t extract. Looks to be a bell at the base of the case wall. Looking in to the proof stamps on the barrel the .22.L I asssume meant 22 long has the letter FL preceding it. From what I found FL.22.L likely means flobert. However I can’t...
They are so darn cool. Certainly worth snagging them when available. A rook chambering would be classic assuming you can make the brass. Nice to own rifles from the glory of fine craftsmanship of proper sporting rifles.
My father in law found a very nice martini .22 for my daughter. Just a real beauty of a first rifle. Nice, small and compact rifle. The craftsmanship, fit and finish will make this a heirloom I’m sure. Thought I’d share some pictures after I cleaned up some of the dust and grime. Put a thin...
I recently acquired a 9.3x62 built by W. Förster. She points like a finger with our with out the scope. Can’t wait to get it out. Looks beefy but feels slender. Has some weight in the butt stock. There is some recoiling reducer in there. Perhaps Mercury as I can hear it.
Feel free to share any...
I have ever had one strange unexplained experience . while on a moose I had a enclosed trailer I was staying in, I was setup in a abandoned farmyard next to a small shop there was a very old twostory farm house on one side and this shop on the other. The shop had bifold garage door. It would...
Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated. it appears the lug may have seen a file as there are marks on the bolt that parallel the top of the lug. I almost think someone tapered it to “smooth” out feeding where it transitions. Forward of the thumb cutout on the receiver. Such a shame as the...
Picked up a used husky 9.3x62. But noticed some possible wear that may be concerning on the upper bolt lug. As well as possibly a worn or chipped extractor face. I’m new to Mauser actions. Any advice would be great. Is it a concern? Locks up fairly tight.
hey thanks!
Gemsbok, waterbuck and a nice symmetrical warthog are on my for sure list. Play some of the other ones by ear. Can’t wait for sure. Read lots of lore as a kid. I’m excited to see the diversity there.
Saying my hellos. The forum always comes up in my google search for safari info. so I figured it must be a good source of knowledge. I have booked my first hunt for South Africa coming in July 2020. Lots to learn.
