I use a Hornady hard primer with S&B brass for my 6.5x55 and have the same issues with tight primers (Federal and Remington), although they have never been mis-seated.
If you can find S&B primers they are apparently fractionally smaller and will seat more easily.
The Mirror newspaper is written to "inform" a less-educated demographic within the UK. I doubt too many people with a three digit IQ pay much attention to the drivel that comes out of it.
I unashamedly bought the local gunshops out of .264 and .422 Woodleigh projectiles yesterday.
IMHO Woodleigh produced a quality product and did so at a very competitive price.
Unfortunately the last quote I received for shipping a rifle into Australia was around $2000.
Hopefully one will eventually appear on the market over here.
Agreed; add it to the pile of other soulless mass-produced "entry level" rifles on the market. In my opinion, the only manufacturer that still makes anything of quality and character in this price range is Winchester with their Model 70.
I just wish I had picked up a CZ550 FS in 9.3x62 before...
Hi Kiki check out the 7 month course run by the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School. I haven't done it but I am planning on doing their shorter 11 day course when international travel is back up and running.

@Bob I'm in Woolloomooloo, so right in the middle. All sorted with R licences etc, have done some State forests on the South Coast after deer, just never pigs.
Hi Bob, thanks for the info. I am Sydney-based, will do a bit of research on the forests you mentioned and hope for the lockdown to be lifted soon.
I'll likely run my CZ550 FS in 6.5 Swede, otherwise my .308.
Something to consider; if you do get injured and end up in hospital, you will likely be required to pay upfront for any medical care which you can then claim back from the insurance company.
I found this out the hard way when I had to cough up $10k for a broken leg. A minor injury in the grand...
Thanks for the info gents.
@Chris S I will be hunting with a rifle and no dogs.
I recently saw a lot of pig activity on Singleton training area but that is much more open than a state forest. Is there a particular time of year more suited to pig hunting?
This summer I would like to try my hand at pig hunting in some of the NSW State Forests. I've never hunted pigs before and frankly know very little about them, other than what I could find online which seemed to focus on QLD/NT.
If anyone has any pointers on this, it would be appreciated.
I have just picked up my long-awaited Mauser 98 in 9.3x64 and now have to decide on a scope for it; the two options I am considering are the Leupold VX-3i 1.5 - 5x20 and the Meopta Meostar R1 1 - 4x22.
The Meopta appears to give the better picture and I do like the No. 1 reticle, however I have...
I am planning on trying my hand at checkering and looking at buying a checkering kit. Brownells offer a variety of sets from Dem-Bart and Gunline. I was under the impression that Gunline may be the better product due to deeper teeth on the cutters, but with a correspondingly higher price...
Gents, thank you.
@Shootist43 I am currently contemplating the purchase of a 9.3x64 Brenneke, and also chasing a Mannlicher.
I would very much like a Rigby Highland Stalker .275 but it is a little outside my price range at this point.
New member fron NSW, Australia. I have hunted on and off for the last 20 years in England and Australia.
Since discovering this forum I have very much enjoyed reading the threads. I currently have a Mauser 98 in .270 Win and a Brno .22 but am planning to add to the collection. Planning on...
