    Motorcycles

I’ve been riding rural gravel roads for about seven years as a way to blow off steam after work. I began with a 2017 KTM 1190R Adventure. Then purchased a 2017 Honda Africa Twin. Loved the AT! I thought I wanted something smaller so I purchased a 2019 Honda 450L. Ricky Brabec, USA, won Dakar...

SPAIN: Gredos Ibex Hunt (+ Some) - Dec 2023

I enjoyed your report. I’m headed to Southern Spain in April for South Eastern and Ronda species. Dividing the slam into two hunts.

    Ruger Red Label Over Under

It is an exceptional bird gun. But it’s mass produced. I shot one for twenty years. To obtain cast, a qualified gunsmith will need to fit ‘you to it’. He may run hot oil over the stock after he obtains your measurements and bend the stock for cast on or off. Length of pull is also very...

MOZAMBIQUE: Hunting Mozambique With Mashambanzou Safaris

I hunted Mahimba in 2014. JP Kleinhans had it then and three of us had great hunt there. True African bush. We listened to the fish eagles in the lagoon every morning for 10 days. There weren’t any hippo tags available at that time but buffalo, warthog, sable, bush buck, waterbuck, and bush pig...

Has anyone had taxidermy done in a different country than you hunted in Africa?

I used an RSA taxidermist for four tiny ten species and they did a great job. BUT shipping them stateside is a LONG way with A LOT of handling. So you risk broken bases and busted off ears and so forth. I saved about $3K in taxidermy bills, and my stateside taxidermist repaired the damage but...

NAMIBIA: First-Timer! - KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS

Your a lucky man! I’d go back and hunt with Phillip every year if I had time. Amazing country and wildlife. Hennings take care of their clients. That’s big boy country and will test your marksmanship. Zebra shoulders are like concrete. Kudu bulls can hide like you can’t imagine! Grub and...

Namibia Hunting Adventure With KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS

Ralph and I came upon a ‘little dragon’ along the road and he shot up a tree and ‘vented’. I’ve never head that sound before. Pretty cool!

What is the BEST piece of hunting advice you've been given?

‘Aim small miss small’ AND I tend to jerk my trigger from being a bird hunter I’m told instead of sqeeeeezing.

SOUTH AFRICA: Hunting Kudu With Warren At Rhinoster Hoek

Hunting Gold- My hunt at Warren’s was 10 years ago and I didn’t think I could find any photos. But here’s my first kudu bull. Thanks, Hutch

SOUTH AFRICA: Hunting Kudu With Warren At Rhinoster Hoek

Love that ranch...very secluded and quiet place. I hunted kudu there on my first Safari. We had hunted the ranch all day. Finally, Lammie says ‘I have one more place we need to go’. He came off the mountain at dusk. I broke my sticks down, got on my bum and squeezed at 250 yds with my .300. He...

USFWS Permit for importation of Sport Hunted Leopard - Processing times?

I had my Namibian leopard permit filed with the new FWS E-Permit on 10/18/2021. The only response we’ve received is for a request for SCHEDULE E. But no other activity lately. So we are approaching 6 months since filing. All I know is if files ‘sat on my desk’ this long, I’d go broke.

    Firearm import fees

I’ve had a bird gun built in Spain and it’s ready. The importer’s website declares a $1K gun cost $1800 to import currently? The gun maker suggested about $1K in import fees back in September. This is about a $15K shotgun. How much can I expect to pay? Anyone have an opinion? Thx Hutch

    Namibia questions

I hunted with Phil Hennings, Khomas Highland twice. His were some of the best hunts I ever had and very reasonably priced for the quality of the hunt. All low fenced wild animals in vast country. Lots of leopards in that country and roughly $8K-$10K less than others. Philips a good friend and...

    Turkeys shells

We use our leftover pheasant loads. It’s not much of a science. Just lead number 4,5,6 or if your a very good caller even 12 gauge dove loads. Aim for the head. Full choke is best. Hutch

NAMIBIA: Leopard Hunt With KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS

Velo Dog- Wish you were in camp during my visit. Maybe I’ll meet you someday. Yes, I agree. As I understand it, each ranch gets One leopard tag per year. After my experience, each ranch should get 3-4 tags per year. No joke! Hutch01

NAMIBIA: KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS Leopard Hunt

Your interest is much appreciated. The Lufthansa business class flight was affordable and I made it back to DFW in a little under 25 hours. The renovations Philip has made to the common areas is awesome. I’ll never tire of the camel thorn smoked zebra meat made available everyday. Real treat...
