Animal artistry in Reno, NV for my international hunts and domestic hunts outside my local area (Greater Cincinnati Area plus the state of Kentucky), local taxidermist for them.
Was this in Austria. Alpine Ibex opportunities are becoming rarer with the Swiss closing their hunting season for them. Great report, enjoyed reading it
I would use all three plus a 404 Jeffrey or Dakota in a bolt action, 470 Capstick in a bolt action and a 500/416 N.E double rifle. In fact anything you would use on Cape Buffalo is suitable for Water Buffalo both species are extremely dangerous.
Yes with the right bullet but the hunter should listen to the PH recommendations, if they say go bigger you go bigger, if they say go for it, go for it.
I'm a 7mm-08 fan but even I wouldn't dream of using it on eland. I would consider 300WSM at the lower end of my preferences and .416 Ruger at the upper end of my preferences. Ideally .358 Norma Magnum or .375 Ruger would be my choice topped with a zeiss scope.
I have seen on many deer stalking pages and it says not to use Barnes bullets as they do not expand well enough for UK deer stalking. Has anyone had any experience with Barnes bullets not expanding.
yes let's keep it going. The more support we can get the better. This could be the start of British people losing the right to hunt not just overseas but also in the UK. I hope not but it could be.
Check out this guys reaction to hunting. It's unbelievable. Now I respect his decision to be a vegan. However I think the non hunters and antis need to realise that we hunters do more for the wilderness by managing the wildlife. They just think it's there by magic. Anyway wild venison and meat...
It is a great cartridge. Recoil is comparable to that of a .470 nitro Express. Available in some double rifles. Mostly Krieghoff and Heym. This is my preferred double rifle.
