i put a trijicon red dot on my double rifle as at 79 i dont see the open sights as well as i use to.they are expensive but i think they are the best.one thing i like about them as their red dots are smaller than others.covers less of the target.i use leopold scopes on my scope sighted handguns.4x or variables.bushnell and burris are also good.
dont give up,im 79 and still shoot the big ones, last hunt to africa was in 2014.started hunting africa in 2002.wife and i have about 60 + trophies in our home.everything from badger to elephant, all taken with hand guns.the big kickers are 45-70,460 s&w mag,454 casull,450 marlin,475 linebaugh,500 wyoming express,9.3x74r.my little wife likes the 35 rem the best.takes a lot of practice and a love of pain.hang in there.

    Hi Ed,

An elephant? Holy Moses! I tip my hat.

I got the 2-500's in a purchase of a sale of a dead man's guns.

I would have never purchased them for myself from a store as I would have never purchased that 20 mm Vulcan bolt action repeater either, or that 458 WM wheelgun, which by the way, both now have a home in Texas.

Do you have any suggestions on a red dot site for it?

    Thank you very much Ed.
Von, I have never shot anything larger than a .375H&H however I have often wondered about the .416 Ruger. What do you think of the round and the Ruger rifle it is chambered in?

    Paparock,

It is a wonderful round and so is the rifle. It duplicates the Remington and Rigby ballistically.

I would rather have it then the 375 hh.

    You gonna buy one?
    Hi,
You have a point - as in .375's are not big bores and .458WM (at about 5000 ft/lbs with a warm load) is really at about the top of most peoples' comfort zones ito recoil.
However, although I do personally use a .458 it is not very versatile and not something I would recommend for someone wanting just one heavy rifle.

    Ok.

I either fortunately or unfortunately at 6' 5" and 260 pounds appear to be completely devoid of pain receptors and can shoot my extremely lichweigh custom 458 with the same Glee that most can shoot a 30-30 with 110 grain bullets.

    Thank you DB

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is 239 565-8988. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
