wildcat idea: a standard-action beltless .358/250gr/2800fps (e.g., parent case of 8x68S, 9.3x64, or .375 Ruger)

The Whitworth action is a standard length action with a notch. It’s shorter and more svelt than a true Magnum action. It has the shorter bolt throw too.
Hmmmm, thanks. The forward ring notch reminds me of the mid-war FN Modelo 30 (Colombia) and Modelo 1935 (Peru) converted to .30-06.

The OAL of the .350 Rigby is just 0.10" longer than the 3.34" .30-06.
You may be on to something here....

Here's a thread on Whitworth actions. Affordable for a funky project like this.

Now don’t tell the whole world about converting 375 h&h to 350 Rigby or people will buy up all the Whitworths. You can find them for around $1,300-1,500 if you look hard enough. I think there is one for sale in the classifieds right now. Imagine case color hardening the action, adding an integral 350 Rigby barrel and exhibition grade English walnut like one of these….and you have something incredible for less than a Rigby.

I am no use to you. I have a 35 Sambar (325/358WSM) and wanted a bit more so I made a 358 based on the 338 RUM case.

The 375Ruger necked down or a 350Rigby would do the trick. I favour the Rigby simply because of nostalgia, and that case feeds very smoothly.

Re using the 8X64. The only case here in Australia are RWS and they aren't good. Need to neck anneal them before loading or risk splitting necks.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
