I was presented with the opportunity to hunt Red Lynx (Caracal) over hounds in the Eastern Cape in late August this year.
What a fantastic hard hunt!
From the time the dogs picked up scent (first thing in the morning) we went over two mountains, crossed a large stream before the cat found cover and took refuge in a thorny tree on a cliff face that took as an hour to travers before we were able to move in and get a shot.
2 1/2 hour from first scent we were figuring out how to climb the tree and retrieve him from the tree top.
I encourage anyone that wants to have a different kind of adventure to give this a try.
