Question is: Why do they buy the crap in the first place?

LMAO.....my ex-wife's answer to that question.

I just couldn't resist (any longer) asking.....

My ex-wife bought a corn husk on a stick "dust collector" "doll".

Knowing it would wind up in the trash.

I asked her why she bought it?

Her reply: I don’t know. It looked pretty.

A few days later, during one of her moods to "spring clean", in the middle of summer, she threw it and a bunch of other actually worthless novelty "stuff" (junk, crap) she had collected, meaning purchased, into the trash.

Yep, I just had to ask...

Why she was throwing all those things, meaning that crap, away?

Her response: Oh, they are just cluttering up the house, taking up space.

Completely unsure - it’s like they don’t realize that the money was their time at some point. My second question becomes: why not try to sell it yourself?

The past week, I have found:
  • a tiller
  • an edger
  • Vintage Bassett hutch
  • Executive Desk
  • A bed frame
  • A weight bench/squat rack with 210 lbs or plates, a plate rack, and a barbell
  • A vintage clock for a mantle
  • A kids foosball/ pool table game setup
  • A $650 adult tricycle
  • Two high-end car seats in like-new condition
  • Two side tables
  • Two adult commuter bikes in excellent condition
And I’m probably forgetting some things…

Since I'm retiring soon and expect to start getting my walking in to keep in shape and prepare for elk season, I'll have to keep a look out around the neighborhood. That's just an amazing amount of stuff to find on the side of the road for free to re-sell.

They’re on me. Someone taped $15 to something I picked up today with a sign that said to have a great day.

Eight days to wheels up and the value keeps growing.

Leaving for the airport in 2 hours. Thanks for watching, folks.

I just happened on this thread and have to follow for an update! Haven't read all the posts yet but if you do this again and didn't this time you should add a barter option into the stuff you find! I have traded my way into some very cool stuff over the years and it can definitely increase overall value.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
