Anybody here into wood working?

Installed a wooden range hood and a “timber framed” kitchen island I made for a client today. Pretty happy with the results. Please note that there is no crown molding over the range hood as there is still some debate on the style.
I have the 16 5/16” skilsaw.Man, some amazing work. I prefer working with steel, but if utilizing wood, I go big and rough..
I do the occasional timber project
I will post a couple of my rough projects. I don’t have 1/10 of the skill set required to do fine woodwork. Great work by you artisans.
Here is the first table that I made at the current house. Had beam left over from the building and used +-100 year old cypress for the table top.

Table two. Again with the same cypress but did the shou sugi ban treatment. Third table was 6” Douglas fir. I gave one to a friend and have made one more table, but I don’t think I took any pictures of it when I finished it. Again, rough skills, but it is worked wood.

I did some horse trading years ago for this. He was another woodworker but mainly did turnings. I had a ton of green wood from a yew tree I couldn’t use and had no idea there was this much figure in this slab until I milled the top flat.

I’ve been called a “FesFool” before… yes a Dewalt and a straight edge is a bunch cheaper (than a tracksaw) and can make a decent cut with a nice blade… my ruger guide gun can also kill a buffalo just as dead as a double rifle but I still really want a double!Every time I look at my stack of Festool systainers all I can see are trophy fees
There is no better sander/dust extractor on the market. I will die on that hill

Their 6” sander and dust extractor made me a “FesFool!” That was the not so cheap entry into their world for me.

Hey guys this is my first post. I’ve been woodworking since I was a teenager. I’ve been starting to make taxidermy bases as a side hustle. Here’s a few I’ve made. Thanks for looking.

I been making both raw and boiled linseed oil stain using alkanet root it looks good on rifle stocks
This was a fun project for my bighorn to live on. Mesquite hauled home from AZ. Bought a chainsaw mill (wanted a Timberking, but, $$$) to mill the slabs out of one log. Turned the cups under the feet from another mesquite log. Supports are old cedar fence posts. About 20+ coats of hand rubbed Minwax Antique Oil as I recall (that part took awhile). The supports have a tenon turned on the ends to fit the mortise in the slabs on either end. One of the challenges was getting the offset right to match what the taxidermist created. It's on 2" castors, thus the gap to the floor. These were taken the day we assembled it all in his shop...
That’s a beautiful base and a really nice big horn.

What are you thinking for finish on that range hood? You'll be dealing with heat and a lot of grease. Forget about latex finish! It won't hold up to heat or a lot of cleaning. Exterior urethane should be able to take the heat but it is soft (that's why it handles temperature changes). Not sure how it will hold up to a lot of cleaning. Perhaps oil base cabinet urethane?

Very nice. Could you add a hook to back of upper cross-brace on support bracket to hang the cord when the gun rack is collapsed? And maybe a nice brass handle to back of notched bracket to carry it when collapsed? Unfortunately, my wall tent has been gathering dust for ... a long time. Sigh.
