For sale is my Dakota 76 chambered in .330 need I say more. Rifle was built around early/mid 90’s for a chap here in Scotland, he used it on a few trips to Namibia. In 2000 it was rebarreled by Callum Ferguson of Precision Rifle with a Shilen Select Match grade chromoly barrel, it then sat in his cabinet unused until I purchased it in early 2025. My intention was a trip to Africa, however this looks less likely to happen now. I have shot deer with it here in Scotland with outstanding results.

The rifle has a stunning AAA grade walnut stock with a factory fitted recoil reducer,

In my ownership the barrel has been threaded for a moderator and a Magnum Limbsaver has also been fitted.

It came to me with Tally mounts and 30mm rings, however I couldn’t get proper eye relief so I managed to get a set of Apel swing off mounts and rings from the factory in Germany, which were not cheap…

More importantly, when I purchased the rifle it came with genuine Dakota factory ammo in .250gr A Frame x100 I’ve shot 40 rounds out it in total, 150 once fired cases and 100 new unfired cases all genuine Dakota .330 head stamped. These alone are worth their weight in gold.

So the whole package will include-

Rifle
Tally mounts and rings 30mm
Apel swing off mounts and rings 30mm
Barton Gunworks sound moderator
60 factory loaded ammo .250gr A Frame
150 once fired cases
100 new unfired cases
RCBS FL Dieset
Schmidt & Bender Classic 2.5-10x56 German scope with A7 reticle older model but solid.

Price for all of above £4000
Price minus scope £3500

Based in Scotland, however if anyone wants to ship it outside the UK I’m sure it’s something that can be looked into.

Please feel free to PM if anyone wants any further info…

Regards,
Martin

Might be a bit of a tough sell since your "new" to the forum (10 posts in over 2 years isn't promising).

Well matt85 I take your point, however if someone wants an outstanding bit a kit I’m pretty sure they’ll do their due diligence before parting with their dollars or pounds or euros or whatever.

I'm a helluva camp cook!

That is a very proper Elk rifle for a fair price. @Martin375 id recommend you export it to USA and sell it from the domestic federal firearm licensee to the final buyer. It will sell for the most money here in America where Dakota’s reputation is gold. It’s just harder for people to figure out “landed cost” when you’re in Scotland. Uncertainty breeds disinterest.

I’ll certainly look into it, it’s far to good to be sitting in a gun cabinet….

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
