Booked my flight today on Emirates. $1,501 round trip economy. I may upgrade.
Sept through October 2026.

3 hour 45 minute layover in Dubai in both directions.

I like this flight because everything checks through and I receive my rifles at my final destination. Plus land at JNB in the morning. No overnight in Joberg and catch my Beira flight the same morning.

Sounds great. Hopefully it will all work out for you.

Excellent :D Beers:

@NIGHTHAWK Give serious consideration to an upgrade to Premium Economy, it’s quite a bit more comfortable, better food, small cabin so nicer overall. About double Economy cost but 1/2 of Biz Class.

The Emirates SFO to JNB route is a great way to get to Southern Africa. I flew it last May. Flying it again in September, then Airlink to Beira. Decided Biz Class and paid cash one way, points the other direction.

Flying SFO to LUN on Emirates in late October but with extended layover in Dubai so I can go visit a friend there who’ll just be getting home from his annual Tanzania safari. Premium Economy this time.

Dang thats good , how long is the entire flight not counting layover.

I took the same flights 2 years ago. I used Seats 68K with a slight upgrade charge. Those are exit row against the window, with no one in front of you, and the bathrooms are right there. Works out great.

I was looking for the Direct Message tab to tell you exactly that. If you’re in economy, the two window seats in row 68 are the best economy seats on the plane. I’ve sat in 68 A or K several times. (y)

The Delta flights are similar flight time, but you go through Atlanta… Cost is $180 more. You get to Joberg at 7:40pm, which I don’t like. Lose a day, overnight stay, load, unload, load back up…

$1,100 More for United…

Thanks for the heads up on that one, I may use it in the near future.

I’m struggling to understand your trip…14.5 hours direct ATL to JNB. How is Emerits the same time probably just my ignorance

He’s leaving from San Francisco.

Thanks I know that just struggling to understand how his total time to JNB can be the same if he booked Delta

Honestly, I was just comparing total flight times posted on the respective airline sites…
Starting from San Francisco.

The level of overall service and comfort flying Emirates compared to Delta makes the choice easy for me… Plus the early am arrival at Joberg.

What point system did you use? From a credit card or Emirates specific points.

I really like the airline and trying to figure out how to build usable points with them for future flights.

The value in points is best exchanged to business or first class.

There is an exchange process for Amex, for example, to convert your points to Emirates airline points.

“Convert American Express Membership Rewards points to Emirates Skywards miles by linking your accounts in the Amex "Transfer Points" section. The transfer ratio is generally 5:4 for US accounts (5 Amex points = 4 Skywards miles), usually taking 1–2 days.”

I have a lot of Amex points, but I intend to use them for my Spain trip in 2027…

Emerites is part of the One World Alliance. Any of those codeshare air miles will work. I have used AK Air miles on Emerites

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
