Who is going spring bear hunting and where?

Haha, you aren’t kidding man! You guys have some tanks over there! Funnily enough I used my Henry 45-70 in Alberta last year, I know it’s overkill but the size is great when you’re in a tree stand.
I’ve used my 45-70 for 15+ years on bears, ( I’m still new to the game) it’s very handy.
Also handy if you run dogs.
My largest was 435 pounds but average overall I get here is 200-300. I love bear hunting

I don't see the 45-70 as overkill for baited bears. You hope to get an exit so the bear will expire quickly. So many bears do not get an exit and there is little left to trail them on. I've seen far too many bears lost due to that. Every time I go to bear camp there is at least 1 or 2 lost that week...sometimes more. That's too many.
Yeah definitely adds a margin of safety that’s for sure

Yeah I think the 45-70 is my new go-to as well. Had been using it just for treed bears after my buddy with hounds lost a few dogs after someone shot a bear with a smaller caliber and the bear still had a little too much life in him when he hit the ground.

Utah Division of Wildlife 2026 Spring Black Bear Draw Results:

LIMITED-ENTRY - Black Bear
Choice 1: BR7016 - Wasatch Mtns, West-Central - Mar 28 - May 25, 2026 - Spring - Any Legal Weapon, No Bait- SUCCESSFUL

Somehow, I am very lucky in drawing Utah nonresident black bear tags - hit in 2019, 2023, and now in 2026. Get the hounds ready!

Happy hunting to all, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

Will be spring hunting bear in Wyoming and then got this in the mail for the fall. Will be my first time chasing them in Wisconsin!

Headed to Alaska for Brown/Grizzly and black bear combo baited bear hunt in June, excited for the adventure. I've hunted bears just about every way you can, but never baited. Hopefully we are able to get on a good one.

I would be very interested in hearing how this goes. When I lived in Alaska, you could not bait for browns but now you can in limited areas.

Will be hunting with Mark Werner in British Columbia this spring. Have hunted with mark since 2002.

Looks like I’m going to BC in early June for 2 bears and some huge rainbows. Chilcotin

Southern end of Alaskan peninsula for brown bear in May, hoping for a 10 footer

If you find an honest 9 footer that isn't rubbed, think very hard before passing it up. They look really good. 10's are not very common. Remember the skull is the trophy to be measured. Big pumpkin headed 9's should be taken.

I'm more interested in hide size than skull measurements, as I am not one who hunts for record book status. 9 foot bear is not a very big bear for the area I will be hunting, a 9 footer is of little interest to me. I was there 4 years ago and saw 46 bears in 8 days of hunting and never saw a rubbed bear, hopefully the same this time.

If a 9-foot bear is small to you, then you're pretty spoiled.

It will be my 5th successful brown bear hunt if I get one. So I am wanting to hold out for the big boy, at 72 ,I am quite sure this will be my last brown bear hunt.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
