45 Super and 250gr

I was lucky enought to buy a Springfield V16 in 45 Super when they first came out. Great gun! I shoot either bulk 45 ACP 230g hardball for practice or Buffalo Bore 45 Super 255g hardcast. They chrono at 1100 fps out of my gun. I had the Springfield Custom Shop adjust the trigger and put on tritium sights. Recently I had them checker the front and back strap. It's my woods gun :)

Rim Rock Top Shelf 250 Gr RNFP 22 BHN
9.0 of Long Shot or Power Pistol both are excellent loads at just over 1100 fps in 5.2” KKM and 22 Lb spring
Really Like the Bullet in 45 Super
WW or Starline 45 ACP Brass with Fed 150 primers
No Comp Needed
G21 Gen 4
Bear Protection Load

The load I use most often in Alaska Trail a little more than 45 ACP + P and a little less than 45 Super.

RimRock 250gr RNFP Top Shelf Hardcast .451”
8.0 of Longshot
Starline 45 ACP Brass
Fed 150
1.190”
Lee Factory Crimp
1000 FPS

4.6” KKM and 20lb Spring
Glock 21 Gen 4

Why are you using ACP brass when 45 Super brass is readily available?? I remember when 45 Win Mag brass had to be cut down and used because the ACP brass was too weak.

Why use 45 Super brass ?
Use this brass only if you have unsupported chamber !
I have used regular WW brass/ Starline all the up to 950 to 1000 FPE loads with excellent results. Max case expansion is .481” don’t go past this in KKM barrel.
My 45 Super brass+P loads I keep them at
9.0 of Long Shot or Power Pistol with 250gr Hardcast at 1.190”
My 45 Super Lite load at 8.0 of Longshot
Preferred load great bullet for Bear defense
I consider 1000fps with this bullet perfect less recoil faster recovery great penetration with G21.
Fed 150
G21 Gen 4
20 lb Spring for 45 Super Lite
22 lb to 24lb Spring for 45 Super
(Do Not Use 45 ACP + P Brass) for my data

Well, you're running a Glock. Which can't handle the pressures of a fully supported 1911. I don't know what a KKM barrel is, but I'm hoping it is an upgrade to the normal "sloppy" Glock barrels.
I know I may have just insighted a riot by talking ill of the "G" guns, but- bring it on.

Yes KKM barrels it a great upgrade premium barrel
Match grade good case support stainless steel
I automatically upgrade after purchase for G20 and G21 for Alaska trails. KKM barrels on Glocks is very popular in Alaska. Suggest go to KKM website and read up. Never used bear defense loads in OEM barrel. Glocks particularly the G20 are the most popular in our camp for many years now / few Ruger 44 mags and a few G21 setup for 45 Super.

I was reading “Sixguns” by Keith a while back and in his 45 auto rim section he recommended 7.5 grains of unique behind a 454424 (255 grain semi wadcutter) my experience with Longshot indicates your 8 grain load should be very similar to his 45 auto rim load.
I enjoy when a nearly 100 year old load gets modernized and enjoyed.
I consider a 250-260 grain bullet at 900-1000 fps perfect for general use. I prefer mine in 44 caliber.

I still have my Ruger Red Hawk 4.2” 44 mag I carry it sometimes I have always prefer the 255gr Keith Hardcast at about 980 fps with HP-38 in it also. I went to the G20 about 20 years ago when good Hardcast 22 BHN were being introduced using 800x and 200gr Hardcast then I was loading around 1200 fps. Few black bear and dispatched a lot of moose with that load. Today in G20 it’s 220gr Rim Rock Top Shelf Hardcast at 1200fps with 8.6 Longshot. But I carry my G21 the most of my 3 pistols today loaded with 45 Super Lite load. This load is very close to the Buffalo Bore 45 ACP+P 255gr load just a tad more velocity with my load.

45 Super is an awesome caliber for a woods gun. I shoot Buffalo Bore 255g hardcast at 1100 fps out of my Springfield V16 Longslide which was designed for the 45 Super. Bought it new over 20 years ago :) Had the Springfield Custom Shop tune the trigger and do the front and back straps

Thanks I have lots of Starline 45 Super brass but I'm too lazy. Nice to see another 45 Super shooter!

I'm running a 265gr hardcast and 9 gr of Longshot. My set up is gonna be different than yours so I'm not saying you should do as I do.

Nice bullet that’s a hunk of lead !
Oh I am content at 1075 fps with AA9 and CCI 350 with 250gr Rim Rock Hardcast .

I like 1200fps. If I need more, I'll reach for something else.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
