Looking to book south African safari hunt, Suggestions for outfitters?

After attending the Duluth MN outdoor show I am looking at booking a hunting safari to Africa. Looking at booking with Grindstone African Safaris or Dinkwe Safaris and taxidermy.

Has anyone had experience with them.

Other suggustions? I am looking at hunting Blesbuck, Impala, and Blue Wildabeast or equivalant. I would love to hunt a black Buffalo but the cost for this is way more then I can afford. Just purchased a Merkel 470ne double rifle. But the double rifle hunt for the black buffalo with have to wait.

I would appreciate your input.

@GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS

There are oodles of reviews of them on this site. Your would find a difficult time finding a better first South African outfit. They offer an awful lot in every regard.

Frankly buff may not be as bad as you think, and a cow buff hunt is every bit as exciting at a fraction of the cost.
 
I highly recommend Derian Koekemoer Safaris or one of the other excellent outfitters who are sponsors on AH. Maybe you can fit in a reduced price cow buffalo hunt or look into a management bull and use your 470 double too.
 
I have hunted with Africa Maximum Safaris. Had a great hunt would recommend them.
Also hunted with Wild Wildebeest Lodge, near Thabazimbi. Would also recommend them.
With AMS you can hunt Buffalo.
 
Suggest you check out the sponsor list on this website. Read some hunting reports and select from this well vetted group.
 
I have never heard of the two you mentioned. I highly recommend Bos en Dal Safaris, sponsor here on AH. They can meet your needs and you could try the Merkel out on a buffalo cow for reasonable price with them. Plenty of the plains game you are after. I close cull hunting the blue wildebeest with them. Plenty of them on property
 
Depends on when you want to go, but I know Limcroma has a couple openings from 21 - 30 August 2027.

Price should be, for a 7-day, 6300 USD (unless that has changed, that's what we booked at): zebra, blue wildebeest, impala, blesbok, warthog. They'll let you sub any of those for comparably priced animals.
 
I don’t have information on either. You’re going to get a lot of suggestions and probably some offers here. I’d suggest defining what you want from trip. What you you described is a two day hunt at most. Nearly any Limpopo outfitter could organize on a number of farms. For what it will cost to get there and get your trophies home, I’d consider waiting until you can afford something more or looking at some packages with different outfitters. I think you’ll get a much better value in eastern cape. You could get a package for kudu, zebra, few others and have a full week of hunting and a better experience. Animals like kudu, bushbuck, warthog are always a good hunt to me. Animals like impala, blesbok I always considered more of a harvest. I’d try and maximize your time on a first African hunt and choose some more challenging species for a better experience.

I only read the reports of them, but Very difficult to beat that pricing for someone who is very cost conscious. Kudu and black wildebeest would be very good hunts.

Check out Henry Griffiths Safaris. henrygriffithsafaris.co.za. He's often on AH, he has all those species, and can probably offer a good deal on trophy, cow or cull buffalo too. I had a wonderful hunt with him last August and can recommend him unequivocally.
 
I have hunted with both @GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS and @TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS, both are outstanding. Later this year I will be hunting with @Bos en Dal SAFARIS, for this hunt I booked a 'management' animal hunt, very reasonable. @Mark Biggerstaff has hunted with Bos en Dal at least 6 or 7 times, he would be the expert on advice with them.

Bos en Dal and Tsala have properties within 2 hours or so of the JNB airport, that is easier, Game 4 Africa will take a flight from JNB to Port Elizabeth, absolutely not a negative, just an added cost to consider.

Regardless of who you decide to hunt with, congratulations on looking to book an African safari!!
 
I hunted with Game 4 Africa Safaris in 2024. The place is outstandingly professionally run. I hunted a buffalo bull, kudu and impala. My buddy took a buffalo cow at a very attractive price.
It might be well worthwhile considering this outfit.

I sent them a message and life happened. I’m stating to thing about 2027 or 2028 and I’m thinking they are my people for my first trip

I will admit to bias, but I do not believe you will regret it. I pinch myself that I chose them.

From all the comments. you have probably gathered, please dont decide on an outfitter solely by posted prices. All experienced hunters would tell you (I say this confidently), do not choose based on price alone. Please go with outfitters who have a great reputation. In all price levels there are great, not just okay, but stand out outfitters, particularly in SA. If their price list is a little higher do not be put off. There are so many factors to consider but instead of me repeating them all there, please just research on this site.
Just two factors alone to consider, terrain and style of hunting. Limpopo verse NE Cape are way different, verse Kalahari, etc... Doing some homework upfront will serve you well. Look around on this site and it's all there but dont hesitate to ask for questions. Cheers
 
I can highly recommend Tsala Hunting Safaris.

Also I would book a Buffalo hunt sooner rather then latter, prices are only going to go up in the future!
 
@GAME 4 AFRICA SAFARIS , hands down.

My wife’s cousin has hunted with Dinkwe safaris and talks highly of them , but they are the only people he’s hunted with.

I would suggest you put together your "Perception" of a perfect safari and discuss this with each Safari outfitter. Each 9 province in South Africa is like a different US state. Different topography, game animals and hunting styles. Killing a kudu in a corn field is not my " Dream" safari, but it happens. Also are you Ok driving 2 hrs to a new concession / ranch to hunt a Blesbuck? There are self sustaining concessions and put and take. There is recent facebook series on the your first safari by Saltlick World wide. The guy's a bit of ass but he made some great points I wish I would have known before my first Safari. My last Safari was with Mias Cronje of Limpopo Safaris in Musina. Great facilities and incredible hunting on a 111,000 acre contiguous nature reserve. A lot of great references and information on this site. Good luck and let me know if you would like and more opinions of mine! They are worth what they cost.

I just looked him up and watched a few of his short videos. That guy is completely insufferable. I don't think I could stomach listening to him longer than two minutes at a time.
