This article speak about EU will likely keep lead in rifle ammo , partially due to the defense industry and the Russian Bear .

So one can hope they will do so , and not ruin many civilians firearms and ranges also .

But nothing is decided yet , one will wait and see .

We can hope. Do they ever consider the older firearms which may not be lead free friendly--like older double rifles? There are many "old school' firearms still made new in Ferlach.

It want not to be that simple. The law banning lead in ammunition is on the table and just needs to be voted on. It will almost certainly pass. One can only hope that there will be exceptions for sport shooters and perhaps for owners of older firearms. In the latter case, however, I have little hope, because the legislator will not understand, or even don't want to understand, why other bullets must be used with older firearms.

Not really ,
Depend on if they had alternatives, and many collectors was very worried in case all the weapons had to ruined .

I sure hope this is levelling the field for all things .

That’s why I sold some guns and found the Finnclassic set that was new made and could handle all types of ammo .

Fox in Slovenia bullets , one mart I will be gathering up amount of in coming years of all types I have and try . Since they are copper jacket and tin core behaving like a cup core , plus they are copy of the Hirtenberger ABC in exterior , so they will shoot well in many cartridges .

But limiting ammo to NATO one can almost
Think behind it , as one excample here TikTok got room in power grid to build a center , just 1 km from large army base .

Same time Nammo on Kongbaberg was denied that specific power amount for ammo making , set them back up to 18 months or more .

In the meantime, I have loaded lead-free ammunition for all the rifles I use in Europe, above all with Barnes TSX or TTSX bullets. It all works perfectly, even in rifles that are about hundred years old. I only use again lead ammunition for the rifles caliber 9,3x64 and up, but all these rifles are intended for hunting worldwide outside the EU.

I have an older Mauser rifle, pre WW1, with the 318 bore diameter. I have not loaded any ammo using the Fox Bullets, lead free bullets.
Do you think that I'm being too cautious?
The S&B lead core work very well, however I'm interested to try the copper bullets

As you probably know 8x57 have been produced in .318 (called 8x57 I) and the more modern version in .323 (called 8x57 IS). When using the smaller bullet diameter for your pre WW1 rifle I cannot see any reason why a lead free bullet will not work. However, even when hunting in Europe I still use traditional bullets mostly manufactured from Wim Degol in Belgium.

Now copper has gone through the roof banning lead is just another form of gun control .I read the waterfowl sudies in college .They poured lead down ducks mouths like 5 pounds a day till they died from the lead which is crazy they might get one pellet a month in the wild .It was done to hurt hunting and steel shot wounded 1000 percent more than lead did .They want ammo so exoensive that the average hunter will quit hunting .Tons of huters who loved sxs and ou shotguns quit hunting when lead was banned here .Its herbicides that kill tons of birds not lead from eating it .They brainwash biologist to be totally antihunters to end hunting any way they can do it .

I don't see where the problem could be, as long as one use lead-free bullets caliber .318.

Among other things, during the WWI and thereafter French military used rifles caliber 8mm Lebel and ammunition with a solid copper alloy bullet, the famous Balle D.

Europe has only banned lead shot for shotguns.....only steel

Californis here banned lead because they said condors ate lead bullets and died which is bs .They are trying the same thing with eagles in other states .Its herbicides that kill bugs them the birds eat them that kills them not lead from desd deer as they are saying .They also said hunters kids were full of lead .I wrote some college papers how it was all bs to ban guns for hunting .

From FACE the status is not clear:

Not only that, but it still varies greatly from country to country and even within the same country. In Germany for example, lead-free bullets is mandatory for hunting in state forests.

Not everywhere. At my place steel shot is for waterfowl only.
At my place, for upland hunting, and clay targets lead shot is still in use.

Hopefully, you’re right, Per.

Ok, they haven’t banned it yet. But Denmark has its own ban on the use of lead in rifle bullets and shotgun cartridges. The use of lead shot on quarry can vary from country to country. In the U.K. it is quarry specific. You can not shoot ducks or waders with lead shot. In Ireland you can not use lead shot within 100 metres of a river, pond or lake.
A ban on the use of lead in rifle bullets is looming throughout the EU.

I would hope that if or when these things come into place that existing stocks of ammo or components will be able to be used or given a use by date.

I’m in no way supporting the ban but I also think they should consider the economics and waste of previously harvested resources if they placed an immediate ban.

Lead projectiles have worked for over 200 years. Some modern offerings have differing properties but cup and core are still effective for ethical hunting too.

Considering how much of Europe was a battleground during WW! and WW2, wouldn't most areas already have far more spent projectiles per sq meter than anything a thousand years of hunting could leave?

There is no prohibition on lead bullets for carbines in Serbia. There is still no shot, but the hunters sugested to shoot steel shot on water surfaces

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
