I mean, not really. In the end i want a knife that holds it's edge...kind of full stop. I can grind a sharpness on it that can be amazing. I guess i think about it that it's task is to cut things as long as it can and retain sharpness as long as possible without being brittle and cracking/breaking, etc. I know there is a give-and-take...but in the end, I want an edge that lasts through a couple of deer and pigs. The above chart is what I use - I like K390, S90V, S110V - I am not trying to use them as pegboard pegs to climb a cliff however. I really like edge retention as the number one priority. Sounds like you want more toughness.
K390 or M390 are my favorite workhorse, or 15V in spyderco heat treatmentI mean, not really. In the end i want a knife that holds it's edge...kind of full stop.
