Deer Season 2025

I finished up my deer season this year hunting in Alabama for a few days. The weather was lousy, cool and wet. I shot the only deer that I saw in 3 days of hunting. Fortunately for me it was a pretty good one. My Ruger Hawkeye Hunter in 30-06 is on a roll and the Hornady SSTs are dynamite on deer.

I let my 11 yr old son do the shooting this year, as I'm kind of over whitetail hunting (only do it for venison now) and this was his first deer after tagging along with me to practice at the range for a few years.

Got him a Savage 110 Apex in 6.5CM for his birthday, shot was about 175-180 yards as measured with my feet, lol.

I'm pretty sure I had more fun than he did and it was a great time finally letting him take the lead, it brought back a lot of the memories I made with my father, though my deer wasn't anywhere near this big. Took us a few hunts to find something fully matured, but this guy fit the bill. Field dressed at 192lbs, scored a hair under 159", and I've got my venison in the freezer for the year!

That's a tremendously heavy deer for Texas! Hope it didn't spoil him, lol
Congratulations!!!!!

Guessing the boy’s buck is from the west side of South Texas on a well managed property. It’s a heck of a buck. That big smile is the best! Congratulations and well done dad. :)(y)

Lol, he definitely was a big one, caught him right at the start of the rut.

It's a family lease that we've rented from some friends for a good number of years now, Webb County. We had a great late summer and fall, as you can see by how green it was in the background, which is rare for our area. Lots of fat and happy deer this year!

I think we only took 3 bucks off the place total, but no where near making a dent on 5k acres. We let a couple of great deer walk before this one due to age, hoping they get to some fable-tier sizes once they're mature. A lot of people are afraid to let deer go, in fear or having someone else shoot them, but it's the only reason I've been able to get the decent guys I have on my other small properties and this one.

Long history of great bucks down in the Laredo area, my grandfather has been getting low fence studs since before I was born. Very blessed to have been able to get this photo after the hunt of all 4 of us (we share the same name) together! We've come a long way, from hunting to have some meat in the freezer and now being able to take a conservation stance so that my grandchildren can get deer like this one day.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
