Samsung SmartTag2 - Has anyone tried these?

I used them on my recent European holiday, and they were one of my more disappointing purchases to be honest. Half of the time they really only updated once my bags were in my possession which is fairly bloody useless!

    Pics of your .458WM's

Mine is a working grade rifle. Interarms Mk.X, 3-position M70 style safety and barrel band. B&C Medallist stock. Meopta R2 1-6 illuminated in QRW mounts. Lightweight and shoots well.

I'll be in camp 3 weeks after you! It's an amazing place. Proper wilderness.

How do you spend your free time?

I don't have any ;) I have a pile of unread books next to my bed, and I'll (sadly) often go months without firing a shot. I work full time, 4 on/4 off 12 hour shifts. In addition I run a busy taxidermy business that consumes most of my rostered days off. Then I play drums in a band, I try to...

Buffalo boss pre and post taxidermy

It's common enough. Some of that semi-hard material between the bosses comes away with boiling, there's also some shrinkage as the horn dries. Taxidermist fills the gap with epoxy then paints to suit.

    Torn ears

As a taxidermist I won't repair natural damage unless specifically requested. As a hunter I don't repair mine as that's how the animal was! Skinning damage is usually easily fixed.

Cape Buffalo Hunt-Bring or Rent a rifle?

I've hunted PG with both my own and borrowed rifles several times each. In every case it's worked out fine. But when I hunted buffalo I took my own rifle. That's one I wanted to be super comfortable with and had plenty of practice with beforehand!

    Australia ?

You won't regret that hunt, it's an incredible place. I'm heading back in September.

    Any .350 Rem Mag Fans?

They are stalked in thickly forested mountain terrain. It's a very challenging hunt. This was the stag I shot last year, my first good one in 16 years of trying. We walked in 16km to this fly camp for a week, and I shot him on dark on day 2 with my Ruger .350RM.

Anyone familiar with Sako AV rings?

Ahh yes @Sarg you are correct, that design is Redfield Jr rings, not Burris as per my previous post! But yes many brands make rings to fit that style of base. My AV from Matt had the old school Sako ringmounts on them like your picture. The Leopold rings I replaced them with look a lot prettier ;)

Anyone familiar with Sako AV rings?

If you want to remove that front ring, turn it 90 degrees in the base. You'll probably need a padded vise. You can use any Leopold or Burris Jr "turn in" style rings with the windage adjustable rear on those bases, including 30mm. On my AV 375H&H I just run Leopold ringmounts that clamp...

ZIMBABWE: African Trails Safaris & PH Shingi - Don't Let The Website Fool You!

There's a very small percentage of situations where a loaded rifle "100% of the time" may be required. I've hunted half a dozen countries including DG and haven't needed it yet. A tent in Grizzly country, perhaps. But certainly not on every hunt in camp and vehicles, no thanks.
