It's still quite early in the morning after wrapping up things with the Nyala, so we continue on with the original plan. The original plan was to head down the other side of the river that runs in front of the lodge. The owner of the property has a catch at the top of the bluff that would have...
The leopard project continues, but more on that at a later date. We're back in the lodge a little bit earlier than normal, so I have time to add to the report.
With a kudu and sable down, and then the add on of the buffalo, this part of the hunt has truly turned into a "let's just see what the...
Now what do we do?
We planned this first 5 day hunt so @AZ KJ could get his nyala, my wife a sable and if lucky enough a kudu for me.
It’s the second morning of the hunt and we’re tagged out as it were. So what do we do now? Well let’s just drive around and see what the hunt offers.
This...
Yah we did, not as big as one might think. Curl depth is everything it seems. We knew the curl on this bull were not terribly deep, but I just loved the full 3 curls. This bull measured 53". Someday I may take a bigger one, but I'm quite happy with this one.
Good morning from near Vic Falls. I remembered last night while sitting in a leopard blind I could email iPhone pics in a smaller size and that might do the trick. It seems to have worked. Donna and her very nice sable bull. We are off shortly for continuation of this project otherwise known...
Sorry guys, despite using Jacques' Startlink panel, pictures are just not loading. This report will have to wait until I'm home. We are now hunting near Vic Falls, leopard being the primary target.
Second night in South Africa brings a pretty solid sleep, adjusting to time change nicely. We awaken to a very brisk morning as were all during these 5 days. The weather was quite perfect. Chilly to downright cold mornings, but quickly warmed with the sun rise followed by shorts/short sleeve...
Thank you everyone for your prayers and encouraging posts, it is most appreciated.
We are back now at the Shearwater Explorers Lodge in Vic Falls after two full days in Chobe National Park. In an hour or so a PH that works with Jacques @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS on hunts in the Matetsi ECA area will...
Good afternoon from Kasane, Botswana. I'm just starting this report a bit late and well into our trip. It also starts on a somber note. Please forgive me for doing such in a hunt report, but I find it a bit cathartic in doing so.
This trip was close to being postponed. At about 3am on...
I'm in Botswana now on photo safari at Chobi NP. Prior to this part of the trip we were in RSA for a hunt. 300gr North Fork Bonded Cores accounted for 2 sables, 2 nyalas, 1 kudu, 1 buff, 1 golden wildebeest and a Livingston eland.
All of these rounds used IMR4350, roughly half with my M70 and...
I have a pair of Swarovski binos only. I have a pair of Leica bins with the rangefinder. The Leica glass is great and my eyes can't see a difference in the two. I got the Leica's for a great price from someone here on AH, so good I couldn't pass on them.
However I wish they were Swaros for...
