We did this recently, a couple tips: Pay for the meet & greet and gun clearance services. It's not that much money (I think ours was $200 or so for two of us) and it will save you quite a bit of time and trouble. You can DIY but after all you've spent on the safari, this is a tiny amount that...

I shot a nice big BW with a 30-06 using a 180grain Barnes MRX. It went all the way through both lungs and the major vessels of the heart, it walked about 40 feet and fell right there.

I've always heard that heavy magnum calibers easily exceed the amount of recoil your thumb joint can take, and in a DG hunting situation they can slow down the handling of the gun.. But I suppose nothing is stopping you from giving it a try if you have very strong thumbs. :)

+1 on the Zeiss Conquest, they are very good. Only downside is they don't make an illuminated version until you get into their much-much-much-more-expensive Victory line. Personally I find with my eyes I greatly prefer a little illumination when things get dim - those black crosshairs just...

Since the A-Frame is constructed similarly to the TBBC (except for the bonded-lead rear instead of a monolithic rear), and also generally retains 90-95% of its weight, I don't see how the A-Frame is better for light game only. Maybe you're thinking of the Nosler Partition, which isn't bonded...
