    9.3x62 bolt rifle barrel length...

I bought a lovely left handed Sako Barvian in 9.3 x 62. The guy before me ordered it specially with a 20 " barrel for Sambar hunting in our Victorian Alps. After having my gunsmith [ Rob Spittles] do his magic on it, this rifle is one of my favorite. With a moderate fast burning powder like...

    8x68s velocity

I had the same combination in the same rifle. Hunting all around the world with it. In Alaska took brown bear, moose, caribou and dall sheep. Right about the bullets, back then I used 224 gr Cone points for the bigger game and 187 gr H - mantels for the smaller animals. Most are to soft, even...

    35 Whelen

Hi Bob What I'm trying to say is that if you play around with any cartridge it can be improved. A good gun Smith can do wonders. We both know one of them. What can be done with a 35 Whelen can be done to a 338. Do you know any Whelen that comes close to Nick's 338.

    9.3x64 Brenneke on safari...

I have taken the Brenneke to Africa and Akaska with excellent results. I found the 293 gr Tug to soft for the 64 and works better in the 62. Half the weight is lost, and my case the rear portion of the Tug veared of course once the nose was gone. As for velocity Rel 17 pushes a 300 gr A-Swift...

    35 Whelen

There seems to be conjecture over what the Wehelan will do and will not. I think the problem lies in the rifles being used. Some of the rifles are made on long and very strong actions like large Mauser and M17s. How they were made and the ability of the gun Smith plays a big part with head...

    370 Sako Mag (9.3x66)

Hi Mulga I know this is an old post but wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I have and hunt with the 9 3 x 62 and the 64. They are both excellent cartridges. Having the 66 in the middle of these two champions should be a blessing. BTW my 9 3 x 62 is Sako 85 Barbarian with a 20" barrel. Thinking of...

9.3x62 Barnes 250 Grain TSX or Nosler E-Tip 250 Grain for PG up to Eland

Just returned home from the territory where a friend was hunting Buffalo. He had excellent results with his 9 3 x 62 using 250 gr TSX Barnes. I think they would perform great on the bigger plains game. Try to avoid longer shots as velocity fall off quickly which will effect expansion.

    9.3x64 Brenneke on safari...

I shoot both the 62 and the 64. They are both excellent cartridges. The 64 has a additional 200 to 250 fps with all bullet weights which may help with expansion if you are using mono bullets. IMO I'd be using a bonded lead projectile like A- frame, Northfork or woodleigh. Happy Hunting.

Loading 9.3 mm Norma 232 grain in 9.3x74R

2209 is to slow for the 232 gr woodleigh, while filling the case your velocities would be way behind other powders.

Loading 9.3 mm Norma 232 grain in 9.3x74R

Using a custom ordered 85 with a 20 " barrel. Thinking of having a mannlicher stock made for it.

Loading 9.3 mm Norma 232 grain in 9.3x74R

Don't have the equipment to measure that but extraction is super easy., good primers and cases are easy to full length to resize.

Loading 9.3 mm Norma 232 grain in 9.3x74R

I load 57.5 gr of ADI 2219 powder with a 220 gr Atomic for 2750fps in my 20" barrel Sako. Very accurate.

    Bullet choices for .404 Jeffery

Shot this Bull Buffalo at 210 yds , dead before he hit the ground. Here in Australia we must do things a little different . 494 Jeffery with a 369 gr mono at 2620 fps.

Blaser R8 barrels from PaleHorse Zero

I had my 404 barrel profiled to 18 mm and the balance is great. Rif k e shoots under moa with most loads
