Or instead.....I could get a Ruger African in .375 a Ruger Alaskan In .375, a Ruger African in 416, a Ruger Guide Gun in .416 plus a couple of boxes of ammo for each and I would still have enough $$$ left for a bag of burgers, a six pack and some ear plugs! :p
The Hybrid 46 is a great silencer! Many of the 45/46 cal silencers out there are really designed for pistol calibers and won't handle big rifle calibers. This one will handle pretty much anything that will fit through the hole with some reasonable barrel length restrictions on the big magnums...
Its a great round, like I said 338WM type performance if you reload with less powder, recoil, muzzle blast. I've become obsessed with a few of the 30-06 based cartridges. Also the 280 AI and 35 Wheelen, those two have larger followings and there are factory ammo and rifles available.
338-06 AI in a model 77 (not African) I would scope it and shoot with a can. I would buy the first one! I have a model 77 in 338WM. Also have a M70 with a 22in proof barrel in 338.06AI. With my hand loads the 338-06AI performance is on par with the 338WM as far as velocity. The 338-06AI shoots...
Here is a pic of my Howa Superlite .308. Rifle weighs under 5 lbs. I am right at 7.5 lbs as pictured with Leupold 2-7 mounted, silencer, sling and a full mag.
Matters more to some than others I know but these are an amazing value. Brownells is selling them for $599.

I have a Howa 1500 in .375 Ruger - 20in barrel and a Ruger African - 23in barrel. Both are 1/12. My numbers are similar to what others have posted.

I posted this a couple of years ago, I still wear this watch, Original GMT Master over 1/2 the time. I have owned it for well over 30 years. Also have the original box and paperwork. It was purchased new in Hong Kong for the equivalent of $167 USD. It has been back to Rolex many times for...
I know some one already mentioned it. Look at the Howa 1500 Superlite. It comes in .308, 7mm-08 and 6.5CM. 4lbs 7oz with a 20 in barrel or 4lb 3oz with a 16in barrel, and its already threaded 1/2x28. I would get the 20in, why give up performance with calibers that are on the low end of what is...
The "what if my ammo gets lost" justification for not traveling with a Whelen or some other cartridges has never made sense to me, its too easy to mitigate the issue. I travel with two rifles, different calibers. 50rd boxes of ammo with 1/2 and 1/2 of each cartridge are packed in two different...
Black WIldebeast for sure! I believe they are only native to parts of South Africa though thay have been introduced in other areas. Kudu, Waterbuck, Red Hartebeast, Springbok and Imapla would be good choices also.
The Terminal Accent and Trophy Bonded Tip are among my very favorite bullets. I have used a bunch of them in .308 and 30-06. Great consistent performers.
