Barrel band, sling loop, or no attachment on a 300 H&H

Will a sling loop affect the harmonics? When you say 'load the sling' are you saying that when you fire the rifle with the sling hanging off of it, that is what affects the harmonics? Or do you mean to say the band simply fitted affects the harmonics?

Barrel band, sling loop, or no attachment on a 300 H&H

Gunsmith has made contact with me about choosing how I want the sling to attach at the front of the rifle. My first choice would be to have nothing on the barrel but I'm getting a pair of rifles made and would like them to match. Is there a significant penalty to having a barrel band on a 300...

    Tiny 10 Specific Calibers

I know a farm manger that uses a 222 wherever he can. He was an army sniper, (not with this caliber obviously), and used it as a youngster on the farm all the way to now when appropriate. Swears by it. Aren't the Americans raving about the 22 Creed and 25 Creed? If you're looking at a modern...

If you want to shoot dangerous game..

First, while using the rifle, the primer blew out of the case on a hot load and lodged in the space where the lug needs to go. Second, they start running because the ridge was 20 feet in front of them and they would have no time to react once the bear came over the ridge. While running, the...

If you want to shoot dangerous game..

I had to find this video and it did not disappoint. For someone who lives in South Africa, I am mesmerised by brown bear. If I had a dream hunt it would be it. I might be too old for it now. I imagine that's the way Americans feel about Buffalo. I've walked past Buffalo in the bush and it's...

    Bontebok

To me the prettiest buck out there. Problem is I don't like hunting horizontal slit eye animals.

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

Purely for entertainment purposes, you are correct, 6CM doesn't get the speeds of the 240 wthby but the creedmore has a greater effective range because of fancy bullets. The 6mm PRC checks all the boxes and tops the list in everything.

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

The 6mm Creedmoor is all about that.

I used 100gr interlock for a while @ 2700 fps. It was very accurate even though the bullet wasn't stabilized with the twist rate. Weird. Ended up returning to orthodoxy, using 90gr Accubond @ 3000 fps, properly stabilized. Still sub 1 moa. Have yet to hunt with it but it's ready to go.

Ah apologize for the duplicate. I did a quick scan of the new page before posting. Didn't look back far enough.

Things you survived, but probably shouldn't have

Was riding in the back of a samil 50, military troop carrier, through a city. 5 of us in the back. We sat by the back exit, well simply put, there were pretty girls in the city. One of the lads put a steal rod on my seat and the far part of the rod fell to the floor and the near end was pointed...
