Red, yes I’ll be keeping the stock in the traditional pattern, slim and petite. These LS stocks have super handling, so there’s no need for me to mess with it.
VG, No there isn't unfortunately as there isn't hence the other lump of wood. I've might make some turn screw handle from the scrap at the bottom. That bit of timber which will be left is too good to turn into fire wood.

They are just making it look like a pre 64 tang. Nothing special about it really. Winchester had, I think 3 variations of the tangs and two were similar to the video.
Getting it to feed and extract may be a mission even for a very good gunsmith. The bolt head is also to big and would need welding up, machining and then hardening again. The standard 602 extractor may also be too big for the rebated rim. It might be easier to stick with the original design...
