.318 Westley Richards - It Begins

Yes, Woodleigh makes 250gr solid and softpoint. Hornady makes a 205gr spire point for that 8x56R that is the right size and, in the US, Hawk Custom will make pretty much whatever you want. As Wyatt said, drawing down .338's is an option if needed. Robertson Cartridge Company and Bertram both...

.318 Westley Richards - It Begins

Like probably 99% of the people on this board, I'm enamored of the old school hunting cartridges. Trolling around the web, I found an article in American Hunter by Phil Massaro in which he outlines a rifle he had built in .318 Westley Richards on an old military Mauser action. And I got to...

    Ruger African 9.3x62 accuracy reports?

I would be all in on this rifle in .318 Westley Richards. I actually have a military 98 Mauser action (Persian) laying about. I've had it for years and am going through one of my periodic "should I do something with it?" periods of indecision. Top of the list though would be seeing if a good...

AH Get Together In Vegas During Safari Club International (SCI) Convention 2017

This was my first SCI convention, but now that I've seen it, certainly not my last. Was very sorry not to be able to make the evening get together, but had already paid for the evening dinner/auction/show before I knew about this. Next year!

Who is going where this year? Lets hear about all the fun trips planned so far

Closest I'll get to Africa this year will be the Safari Club convention, hoping to meet some people there. Trying to put together a hunt for Mule deer in Idaho, buuut that will cut into the Africa trip funds. Really bugs me that I'm not rich :)

Tell me why buying a Rifle chambered in 6MM Remington is stupid

What Ray B said. If not for that mistake by Remington, the 6mm Remington would probably be in the place the .243 is today.

My daughter's "going to Africa" video blog

This is funny...I stumbled across her videos on YouTube awhile ago while searching on Africa related stuff and have been watching them. Good to "meet" you guys.

I did it again Bought another Brit gun

That's a beautiful rifle...I have a huge soft spot for older British rifles. I don't own any because, you know, $$$. If I were to stumble into a .350 Rigby that were in any way affordable though...

SOUTH AFRICA: Plains Game Hunt With Lianga Safaris

Well done and thanks for sharing! Lianga is on my radar as one possible outfitter for my first trip...they have a lot of appealing package deals.

    Whitworth Express .375 H&H

Thanks for the replies all, I'm very happy with it. I agree, it 'feels' like it could possibly do better than 1.25", though I do consider that good accuracy. I've ordered an assortment of loads to try out though, from 250gr through 300gr and am looking forward trying them out. I haven't...

    Whitworth Express .375 H&H

I've mostly used .308/.30-06 on pigs myself...obviously the .375 is over the top, but what the heck? I actually use the poor little piggies as an excuse to use a lot of my rifles that otherwise wouldn't see much field time...
