Dear Gent.

I recently returned from a buffalo hunt in the Save Valley Conservancy in Zimbabwe, big thanks to Roger Whittall Safaris for a fantastic experience.

As a guest, you could not feel anything of the problems that area has been through recently, Whittall's and one another farm are the only ones that currently are allowed to conduct hunts. But for how long, they dont know. But they are optimistic about the future.

Humani, as the place is called, has the Turkwe river running through, which is water-bearing in the dry season, making the area packed with animals of all kinds. Humani is definitely every hunter's paradise.
Unfortunately my school English is not good enough for long stories, so the pictures must speak for themselves.
In addition to the animals taken, I have seen: Elephants, Warthogs, Eland, White Rhino, Bushbuck, Gnu, Kudu, Zebra, Hippos, Crocodiles, Snakes, Monitor Lizards, Giraffes, Baboons, Monkeys, Turtles, x number of birds, traces of hyenas and wild dogs, heard both lions roar and Leopard cough at night just outside the camp. (I was safe behind my mosquito net) LOL, plus many that I've probably forgotten.

Hi Bruce

The Nyala is 29ï½½" , we saw one that was over 32 inch but he disappeared in the dense green stuff like a ghost..

Poul

Congrats for a great safari and some very nice trophies.

Thanks for sharing !

Congrats, nice cape buffalo! I really like your nyala, he's a really nice one.

Glad you had a good time. Nice critters!

Thank you for posting your hunt report and pictures, much appreciated and always very valuable for other hunters looking at hunting in Africa!

Congratulations on your hunt. The Nyala and Buff are terrific! Brian

Man that Nyala makes me jealous. Congrats on a fine Safari.

I am glad you were able to avoid the current troubles going on in the Save. I am afraid this paradise is in its last days. We had a PH that usually conducts hunts own Humani in camp. He had to relocate with his client that was hunting Bull ele. He talked about what a paradise Humani is.

Lp!

Amazing trophies! Thanks to share with us.:beer::beer:

Gorgeous pictures and trophies. The landscape shot is exquisite.
Awesome Nyala. What a great trophy shot to.

Took me a minute to find that Buffalo picture. Well done.

Dear Gents

Thanks for your nice comments.

Dear Thunder Head

No offence intended, but we as hunters often think of an area as a hunting paradise, but forget that there are people behind who've invested their lives in the area and that they ensure that many others have a reasonable life with food and water.
I think it's hard for people like me from outside, to give an educated guess about the future of the Conservancy. But one thing is for sure, the people that I have met, Roger & Anne Whittall, does not give up so easy, a long life in the bush has taught them little more than their ABC.
Stories the family have told me about their lives with Uncle Bob, war veterans and squatters has made a big impression, and at times it has been difficult to understand for a pale European, how and why they choose to live under these conditions. But they have my utmost respect.

If the Save conservancy disappears in the form as we know it today, then I'm proud to say I was there and met the people who had the vision and guts to make a special place.

Best of luck to your all in the hunting season.

Poul

Did you ever get your trophies shipped to you? I hunted with Roger Whittall Safaris a few years back and never
received my trophies. No response from Roger Whittall Safaris to my inquires on the subject. Just simply
ignored.
