Recommendations for Pronghorn outfitter

They are managing numbers of people in addition to managing numbers of animals taken. We can’t all hunt our favorite unit every year. . .View attachment 724479

Request your copy of these publications and it will give you information on guides and outfitters, hunter and trophies of the year and more information. It will be invaluable if you are seeking an outfitter.
My picture may or may not be in that pamphlet ha

Thanks for all the info. I’m interested in coming down with my 9 year old next year. He wants to go on a hunt with me even though he’s not old enough to hunt himself yet.

I want to get another pronghorn, but the real priority is making sure my son enjoys himself. With the priority being a high success rate hunt and accommodating a youngster would this change anyone’s recommendations?

Any recommendations for Montana pronghorn?

I killed my first deer at 9. I know it depends on the state and child, but starting early is great where legal

Yep, my 11 yo got his first deer this year. They just changed the regulations here so that 10 yo can hunt big game now with an adult. My understanding is that it is 12 in Wyoming, or at least turning 12 by the end of the calendar year they will be hunting in.

So, unfortunately, my 8 yo is out of luck for a couple more years though he’s excited to go with me.

What is the average distance people are taking their shots at for pronghorn?
11 animals, 3 longest shots were 340, 300, 250, the other 8 all between 110 - 200. We always stalk closer when feasible.

If you draw a tag in an area with a reasonable amount of public land I don’t know why you would need an outfitter. I killed good bucks all nine years I lived in Wyoming DIY. I doubt that there is a hunt better suited to DIY than public land antelope.

Certainly a thought, though I’m traveling from Alberta so want to be able to focus on enjoying the hunt with my son after 15+ h drive. Think a good guide and outfitter will be worth the expense.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
