Is the 465 H&H as dead as your dinner?

the 465 and 400 H&H were both cartridges invented just for the sake of H&H collectors. they use rare bullet diameters and match the ballistics of cartridges already in existence.

why buy a 465 H&H when you can buy a 460 WBY? (same parent case but .468" bullet vs .458" bullet)

why buy the 400 H&H when you can buy the 416 RM? (similar parent case but .411" bullet vs a .416" bullet)

Because they are cool classic style cartridges, not the boring every day stuff. Don't care what bullet diameter they use. I handload. Don't care if the reloading dies are 3 times as much, or the bullets.

I see it that way too, and as the owner and user of a rifle caliber 460 Weatherby Magnum, I would have no problem hunting with a rifle caliber 465 H&H Magnum. I like the cartridge design, even more than that of the cartridge 460 Weatherby Magnum. As for the money, the reloading components are far from the problem; it's rather the rifle you need.

Good for you... But that post is 6 years old.

Right you are--if I had a 465 double it would be far from deader than my dinner.

So? It’s still a discussion that is fair game. That’s what this forum is all about, no?

Looked more like he was trying to argue with a post I made 6 years ago. If I wanted to get in arguments over stuff I said in the past, I would have gotten married.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
