Fuquay Gun in NC has a new production Winchester Model 70 in 458 Win from that last run of guns for $1499. If you missed out online that seems like a solid price.

This seller is usually high priced but this is somewhat reasonable. Some of these Model 70 Safaris starting to appear for sale.

Neal is a great seller. I have purchased 3 rifles from him. While he may be “high”, his stuff is first rate. You have no doubts when dealing with him.

Must have sold because I don’t see it on there

Did you call them to determine this? Their shopping website is still a bit of a work in progress.........

They wanted almost 1700 after shipping and tax so I didn’t go through for it. I think I could find a bette Mr deal in the classifieds here if I’m patient. Offering them 1535 which was price plus shipping but they wanted to change nc state tax even tho they’d be shipping to Texas. Whatever.

Caveat Emptor on the Winchester Safari Express rifles made in Portugal. Check out Desert Dog on UToob. He is a M70 freak and has promoted the late production guns as being good to go. He has now retracted his endorsement due to quality control issues. Primarily the barrels are hit or miss. Mostly miss from the info Desert Dog conveyed. I have been casually looking for one in 375 H&H or 416 Rem Mag. Now I am thinking a pre-64 or a new production Safari Express made early in the run at New Haven.
I understand the last of the production run in New Haven was not great either. Just my thoughts and I know there are many members with more knowledge of these issues than me.

What other gun are you going to buy for Africa for $1800? Lucky if you get a hogback CZ550 for that price.

Ruger RSM $3k+
Dakota $4k+
My 375 ruger Hawkeye FTW was like 1300 shipped no tax and I’m super happy with it. I don’t know why the 458 cals are so expensive. Just a lack of producing them so there’s less on the market I guess. If Ruger did a run of 458wm or Lott they would clean up I’m sure.

@RSL If you want a beat and rusty Whitworth over a new production Winchester Safari. Go for it.

@generalzip I’m glad you’re happy with the Ruger rifle. They probably would clean up with a Rigby and 458 offering. I had a .375 Ruger, sold on here NIB with 4 boxes of ammo for $1k. Ruger rifles in Ruger cartridges just don’t sell or retain their value like a Winchester in .375 H&H or .416 Rem Mag.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
