Good news for the critters in Namibia after such drought last year.

Namibia: Promising Rainfall for Namibia

Good rains have been received in the northern and central parts of the country this week, the Namibia Meteorological Services (NMS) reports.

Good rains have been received in the northern and central parts of the country this week, the Namibia Meteorological Services (NMS) reports.

Otjiwarongo and Tsumeb recorded the highest amount of rainfall of 52.2 millimetres (mm) and 49 mm, respectively on Sunday.

Windhoek and Grootfontein also recorded some good rains of nearly 40 mm and 27 mm, respectively.

NMS Chief Hydrologist at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Pauline Mufeti said the water levels of some perennial rivers have risen tremendously due to the heavy rains that fell in the last couple of weeks.

"The latest river flow readings show that some perennial rivers recorded water levels that are above normal," she reported.

The Zambezi River recorded a water level of 0.90 metres, compared to 0.72 metres which is the normal water level for this time of the year.

The Kwando River in the Kongola area recorded a water level of 2.89 metres, compared to the normal level of 2.27 metres.

The Kavango River in the Rundu area recorded a water level of 4.95 metres, compared to a normal level of 4.32 metres.

wayne thats good . when i drove from walvis to zambia through the caprivi in oct things looked very dry with animals looking for grass on the road sides , and there was bugger all there. we drove through a couple of showers near rundu, but good to hear they are getting some rain. we get about 2.5 metres of rain during the season in a normal year on the reserve in zambia , but last year i think it was only about 1.5m , and we think thats not good, kinda puts the amount that falls in namibia in perspective.

It certainly does.
After hearing all the cattle being sold or dying off up north last year I was rally concerned about the wildlife.

When I hunted last June there was no water in the dams and I wondered how the critters were going to make it until the rains.

So, here is hoping that it keeps up long enough to let the grass and bush grow.

We are indeed very fortunate to have had good rainfall so early into the rainy season. All very promising if it continues this way until the end of the rainy season in April. Here below are some pictures I took this morning.

We have had a fantastic rainy season in Namibia so far and it is still raining. All the dams are overflowing and the grass is 30 inches high!

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
