Corey Knowlton Texas hunter bags his rhino on controversial hunt in Namibia

A massive congratulations to Mr. Knowlton. By taking this old Bull, we as fellow hunters would like to say thank you for your huge contribution of funds that will help with the protection of these vulnerable animals. By taking one, you have saved many.

My congratulations to Mr. Knowlton. It took a lot of moral courage to undertake this hunt, knowing the backlash he will face. He has always represented and promoted conservation through hunting on such shows as "The Professionals" etc.. He not only preaches this ideology but practices it as well, the proverbial "putting your money where your mouth is". Once again well done, and thanks from all of your fellow hunters.

Great Hunt(y)
Good Reporting(y)

I am very surprised CNN was fair and balanced. I am quite sure Corey had to ok the finished product before it aired. Corey understands how we are being attacked by anti hunting groups. God bless Corey has the means to afford that price tag. Let's hope the money truly goes for a good cause. I m skeptical after seeing what happened recently in Etosha.

Very good article - the comments on CNN and Mr. Knowlton's Facebook page...not so much.

Congrats to Corey

I understand that CNN and Jeffery Flocken seriously discussed their anti hunting news program over dinner the previous evening. Fried chicken and big beef burritos on the menu.................FWB

Great coverage by CNN!

Well done, Corey Knowlton.

Congrats . Corey Knowlton I support you in this war against the Antis'
CNN did a realistic report on this hunt . Well done !

Man the internet is lite up over this issue. I ve been typing every chance I get defending this action. I can just see the continued fallout...Where are the pro hunting organizations??? NOW is the time to step forward and DEFEND this action and sport. This is why the public is against us...NO DEFENSE on our part.

You are right Johnnyblues, and that's the reason I last year cancel the membership in SCI after 30 years... protect hunters rights, yes but where are they ?????

We have no real voice in these situations. They along with the NRA should be flooding the internet and news channels defending this action while trying to educate the general public. We will never be accepted by everyone...but still we need a voice at times like this.

You have to wonder if Cory is re thinking he decision on allowing CNN to come long. Although well intended I m not sure it will benefit us.

Here's the problem, logic and reason does not work with these people. I've seen hunters that are bashing him, I'm a real hunter and not like those trophy hunters, is their comments. They are not even smart enough to see that we all need to stick together. This is not just about this animal it's about them wanting to take our guns. I have seen some support, but the idiots crawl out of their moms basements for these stories.

As Ron Black says, " you can't teach Stupid"

Excellent read and good for the man from Texas

That's a really nice black rhino bull. Onto the article, this is what I want more out of journalism. No bias whenever possible.

Was more accidentally running in to a interesting Russian billionaire that last year start to purchase farms in Namibia, today he have around 100.000 acre outside Windhoek. Mr. S is a dedicated big game hunter and will breeding Black Rhinos... I also know that this guys will not accept dead threats from some wimpy anti- hunters !

I tell this because there will be allot of breeding for rhinos in the future, and wealthy people like that one I mention above will do what they want, no matter what it cost, or what the anti-hunters say.. and that's good... :D:D:D

The antis will not be changed by the truth. They just have a cause. No reason for it. Also you can see how many $$ they spend on habitat and anti poaching efforts. Bruce

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
