So here is a question I had- how many people wipe down scope mounts and the action dovetails with oil when they mounts scopes. And if you dont oil the dovetails, how do you deal with rust prevention ? I had my CZ 550 apart -had to get the barrel 'fingerprinted' by the Police firearms section as part of licensing so took off my scope. CZ has a recoil lug so maybe less reliant on friction for keeping the scope in place.

Anyway I gave a light oil coating to the mounts and dovetails but wondered what everyone else does ? My scope has zeroed and stayed solid so no problems.

Uhh, yeah I wipe rifles mounts etc with oil. I should probably do this more often.

But, can I ask why it's being fingerprinted?

They call it fingerprinting but it is forensic mapping of land and grooves on the fired bullets so that if I turn to a life of crime, they can track me down

In some ways I can sort of understand it, if someone poached an elephant, they could tie the rifle to the crime but you do question who would use a gun that they owned ?? Darwin award criminal ??

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
