Greetings all,
We are as a family are looking to move to Canada and I need info on the different areas of Canada.

We enjoy the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing etc.
A few years ago we visited Montana in the USA, and the area and mountains appealed to us. What area of Canada offer similar type of terrain and also where we can continue our hunting passion and that for the outdoors.
Would I be able to import my hunting rifles from South Africa into Canada.
My field is agricultural farm management - Maize, beef & sheep & dairy, also specialise in bulk composting production.
Look forward to info from guys in Canada, who might be able to give us valuable info and perhaps more contacts etc.
Regards

Bruce & Isa

Alberta is most similar to Montana. Although, it also borders Saskatchewan and BC.

Plenty of Beef production in the west as well.

PM me with specific questions.

If i was able to up and move i would pick Alberta, so much to offer on the hunting side of things
Just be ready for the weather regardless of where you decide in Canada

Hi Bruce! There are some great areas in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchawan. I would live in any of the three, but I'm with dobber on this one. My first choice would probably be Alberta. Excellent fishing and great hunting for both big game and birds (ducks, geese and upland birds). Lot's of diversity in terrain and habitat. Boreal forest in the north, plains and agriculture in the east and south and the most rugged mountains you can imagine in the west. Absolutely beautiful!!! I hunted Grizzly and black bear there in 1987 and geese in 2006 & 2008. The only time I've shot geese in the fields while listening to elk bugle in the timber. Awesome!
Alberta seems like a good bet for your farm and agriculture background as well.
Just make sure you bring long underwear for the whole family :D Winter starts in October and lasts 'til April. Except the years it doesn't. Then it starts in September and lasts 'til June
I wish you the best (y) Let us know how it goes.
