Happy New Year AH members. It was my first time to the DSC expo. Great show, the kids and wife enjoyed it but the weather did in fact put a damper on things IMO.

Guys last June was my 4th trip to Africa. Started going in May of 2014. I've slowly gone from plains game to dangers game. My last 2 trips to Africa I must admit I should have done a little better research. I started to write a lengthy safari review when I returned home from my last trip but I figured you guys didn't want to hear me whine and my PH was a really good guy I just feel in that concession animals were limited and that part of Africa was a bad drought. In any case my confidence on a least a shot opportunity on a leopard was really bad late summer and fall. 2 leopard hunts 0, 2 croc hunts a 10 footer not exactly what I was looking for although I'm happy with the trophy.

I believe I solved my croc problem. I booked a specialized crocodile hunt in August with Cabassa Safaris. We'll be hunting in a remote part of Mozambique Cahorabassa Lake middle of the crocodile rut. I normally try to get to Africa every 4-5 years but couldn't pass up the opportunity. Anyone here ever hunted this area? Your input is welcomed.

Glad to hear you enjoyed DSC. I love hearing your progression of Africa and it sounds like you got the itch to be there more often. Fantastic.

Leopards are a separate subject (and I feel your pain!) but if I were going to pick the best place in Africa to see the largest crocs, it would be Lake Cahora Bassa in Moz. I look forward to a hunt report on this one. Your PH will line you out correctly of course but take an accurate rifle and tell him you would like a neck shot instead of a head shot (which damages the trophy and is actually a smaller target). When you shoot...shoot him again immediately. Do not admire the shot or hesitate. Crocs are probably the most trophy lost to injury, non-recovery.

Old crocs are one of the hardest hunts you’ll do and shots can be quite far, so you want an absolute tack driver.
Our best camp rifle back for clients hunting crocs in the day was an early Remington Sendero in 25-06.
Still think it’s the best rifle Remington ever produced.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
