Take a peek on Gunbroker under custom Winchester m70. She’s worth a pretty penny!!! The Portuguese don’t even make a car. They definitely don’t know how to make a Genuine Winchester!!!!
Little confused, have a # 1. You are saying when ejecting a spent cartridge sometimes it will hit the safety and push it into the safe position? I never heard of it but could see it happening. Mine is 7mag. Interesting post!!!
My Interarms .458wm. Made mine look like a super grade. Douglas premium barrel though and NECG sights. Know how you feel about Winchesters, same here. Wish I had done three position safety but stock was inletted for original , she shoots sub MOA at 100
Finally rifle was done!!!! Heart did an incredible job!!! They made the new barrel look like the original barrel, they tapered barrel with boss where rear sight would have been. Jim said it took some work, the bedding and pillars are perfect, Cerokote is outstanding actually looks like real...
This is my #1 on 7mm mag. Was also handed down to me by my father. My father bought it in 91’ my first deer season, been in love with it at first sight!! Now she’s mine and it will take a Northeastern buck off its hooves. Handles like a dream. Has a Canjar set trigger. Hope to send it to RJ...
The #1 IMO is the most elegant and beautiful handling gun there is. Especially with the Alexander forend. Just love em. Have a Beautiful 7 mm mag that’s shoots excellent. Something about the action and cocking lever and those Ruger sights. But the can be a ligand a poke on accuracy from my...
Buck 110 Drop Point. One sharp knife. Used a lot of knives in my day but this one feels great in the hand and drop point is so much better than the clip blade
This .458 Interarms was built by the other Mark from NECG. Douglas premium barrel added second lug , NECG sights, Engraved, and he did the stock. RIP. Mark!!!
First hearing of this, funny all we hear about are illegals who sent to El Salvador wrongly ( what a joke!!). This actually should be news!! Glad he is safe!!! God bless
I’ll
It will be worth the wait!!!!! I know they are top notch!! I feel like they are back burnering my gun. Hope it’s done soon. They are great people and make some of the best barrels.
Posted on this thread in Jan of 24, with a 7-9 month lead from Heart Barrels. Not just a barrel but truing action install barrels and pillar bedding. Been 15 months now. They said they would have it near end of December. Called end of January said they were a couple months behind, asked what...
Seems like you know your stuff!!! Read about all the post on this thread. Maybe it was a fluke thing. Sometimes it just happens. Keep trying and move on. Hope it works out for you. Reloading can be a very rewarding hobby. Nothing like taking an animal with you own load. Love the feeling!!!
When I was building my .458 win mag was doing a lot of reading on the best scope for recoil and read an article where a guy who tests ammo in big bore guns for a living, shooting a awful lot every day said he has a lot of Leupolds on his bench to be sent back for warranty. The most reliable...
Would the .45-110 be the close equivalent to the .458 win mag ? Using smokeless gunpowder?
Glad your gun is coming!!! They are beautiful rifles. Didn’t mean to high jack your post , you just got me thinking!!!
I’m thinking it had to be brass or off size bullet diameter. I would bet you could load that cartridge to a compact over maximum load and see a flattened primer and some bolt marks on brass but still have brass intact. I see that N160 is very close to IMR 4831 and 37 grains is not a lot of powder.
I agree. Even most published max loads are on the light side of true maximum. If you look at older reloading manuals from the sixties and seventies max loads can be higher by 3-4 grains depending on cartridge. I was told that pressure instruments can read pressure more accurately now or there...
I would contact New England Custom Guns or a competent smith. Read enough posts by Gumpy to know he is very knowledgeable and capable. But it is a task you have to be on the money with. My smith worked at NECG he welded and tapped mine on a 458 win build on an Interarms mag action, also sights
Thank you!! Definitely will. My smith passed last year and didn’t get a chance to get gun to him. He also was a number 1 expert. He actually built the New England custom firearms 20ga number 1. And built a couple really cool muzzle loaders on it. Google it and check it out. He was a true master!!!
Saw this post. Sorry I’m late to it. I have a 7 mm Mag number 1, was looking for a smith who specializes in number 1’s. Looking to have gun accurized. Has those number 1 issues. And if it needed a new barrel could he sweat sights back on it?
Agree that the South Carolina FN’s came out of the box more accurate. Better bedding and free floating barrels. Triggers were lighter too. New Haven M70’s need a little love to bring out their full potential. But never really seen any fit and finish issues. But Monday’s Happen!!
Owning a Randall in the knife world is like owning a Rigby in the gun world. That said I will stick to my Winchesters and Buck knives!!! Gongradts on a beautiful knife = jealous!!!!
