Lever guns are fine if you can truly shoot them. I take a lever .22 in Winchester 9422M. Bolt guns work for me much better and are easier to operate. I would not use a lever gun on anything big enough hurt me.

I have shot both and owned both. Now I don't. They are beasts no matter what anyone says. The only way to dial down the pounding is with a suppressor. It helps.

TSX for sure or a solid if it is an old bull. The skin is very thick and they are not easy to bring down. My son has taken 2 bulls, both with a .375 HH using TBBC on one and a TSX on the other. Required several shots.

Do you take a .22 Hornet or .22 WMR to Africa when you go? Seems it would be fun and handy.

I have a Z5i on mine in 2-10x42. The bigger "bell" seems to overwhelm the sleek lines of the rifle.

I have about about 10 .375’s. Most were Winchester Model 70’s, one Dakota, 5 Mausers and one HS Precision and one CZ. All are fine. Model 70 and Dakota were the best fit for me. Mausers are great, just like Model 70 better.

Most of you need to shoot more.... I spend most of my ammo on baboons at distance. Great fun! You never shoot all you bring. I always leave the extra behind.

I tried your idea. Do one “cheaper” hunt, then dump money into a “BIG” hunt. I did that , did both. And have been back 14 times spending all I can gather up and regretting a dime spent… Also, fly business class. It is worth it.

I carry all TSX bullets. They work. If I were to hunt ele's, then I would carry whatever the PH told me to carry. I have not been a fan of mixed bullet types.

I have as well. It was me not getting the bolt closed and pushed far enough forward. Also had an issue with bullets set too shallow.

I have used 300gr TSX on 6 buffalo, eland and giraffe. No issues.

I have taken 6 buff with TSX bullets. I also take solids in case a follow up is needed. so far, no follow ups needed.

The .375 HH will ALWAYS be the preferred rifle in Africa. The Ruger is fine, does good things, but cannot ever replace the H&H. I have shot about 12-15 different .375 HH's and all perform. No matter the ammo.
