Depends on the inspector. I understand that you are supposed to be able to have it shipped to your home if you want but that isn't always the case. I just had a crate come in from Argentina and it had to go to a USDA facility. No explanation as to why.

Normally you need to be within 11 months before booking flights. I normally book 9 months out.

I asked Splitting Image to get me several quotes for my shipment last December. They provided them and I used Badger and I was quite happy with them. You can also contact shippers directly with the crate dimension and weight for quotes.

I know what you mean. $585 of my Import Broker cost was for three days of storage. The Turkish Airlines shipping was very reasonable but their storage fees are very high. I miss the days where you had five days of free storage. Now you only have one

I received my crate with 10 dip and pack trophies last month. Dip and pack at Splitting Image. $2,005 Shipping by air, Badger Cargo. $671 Hunter International Import Broker and shipping to tannery $1,665. The shipping was definitely less expensive than expected for a 55 kg crate.

I'm looking forward to my hunt with Marius in May. Should be a great time.

Look into Badger Cargo. I just had them handle a dip and pack crate for me. Only $670 to San Francisco. $608 of that was air freight on Turkish Airlines.

That's a great question. I'm hunting in Romania this year but haven't thought about the tipping. I'll be following this thread to learn more.

I am not familiar with the Hilton but one of the other hunters stay there on arrival and said it was very nice. They stayed at the Intersur Recoleta when returning to the US. Said the Hilton was nicer but not as good of a location.

Manuel recommended the Intersur Recoleta when I hunted with them. Nice hotel in a good safe location.

Two years ago I had a crate shipped from a different South African taxidermist that had both finished and unfinished taxidermy in it with no issues. I don't know if something has changed in the past two years or if some taxidermist will mix and others won't.
