    Any other Cheese lovers here?

Living in Wisconsin I've eaten a lot of cheese, and there is a lot of great cheese made here. I suppose good cheese is found in almost any place that has a lot of cows or sheep. One thing that we have which I'm not sure is widely made is fresh cheese curds. I'm partial to Cady cheese curds...

    .416 Rigby, 400gr Swift A-Frame, Accurate 4350

I've compared the published load data for the three 4350s where I've been able to find it, and it appears that Accurate 4350 generally takes about 2 grains more powder. That would make sense if it's slower.

    .416 Rigby, 400gr Swift A-Frame, Accurate 4350

Does anyone have load data for the subject components? I've used Accurate 4350 with Cutting Edge Bullets 400 grain Safari Solids with great results, and I've got a lot of the powder so I'd prefer to use it, but I'm hesitant to extrapolate data between these two bullets given their disparate...

NAMIBIA: Has Anyone Here Hunted With Moringa Safaris?

What attracted me was that Jack O'Connor hunted on their property in 1972. His story of that hunt first appeared in the June 1973 issue of Outdoor Life. The outfitter was the well-known Volker Grellmann. It was on this hunt that Eleanor shot a 60" kudu! I'm just curious about anyone's...

NAMIBIA: Has Anyone Here Hunted With Moringa Safaris?

Just curious if anyone has first hand experience with Moringa Safaris? They've been in business since 1972 but there's very little about them on internet.

    Good Gun Deals This Week

I'll weigh in. I handled this rifle at the DSC show in 2020 at the Cabela's booth. I vaguely recall that it was well balanced and seemed even lighter than the listed weight. What I distinctly recall was that it was a tremendous bargain, since Cabela's was asking just $8,000. It disappeared from...

    Hunting on a Sunday

Borderer, I’m reformed (OPC), so I try to observe the Lord's Day by resting from my work and recreation and only doing works of mercy, necessity, or piety. It’s tough! The historic reformed understanding of the Lord’s Day, as expressed in the Westminster standards, is pretty strict. It’s...

Where's the thread about taking care of PHs during show season?

I would be very interested to read this as well. I've offered to host some folks stateside, but western Wisconsin is hardly a hotbed of hunting shows.

    Courtney Safari Boots

I have this same model and never had any problem with the lack of arch support. But I've worn Russell's since the late 90's and they don't have arch support either. I think my feet are rather flat.

    The Gun That Got Away

A bunch of Warren Page's rifles were sold at auction in 2012 and some went quite cheap. The one I regret not buying was his Remington 700 in .458 Win Mag. It had a Kollmorgen 2-3/4X Bear Cub in a G&H sidemount and sold for under $1,000. I didn't put in any bids because I assumed things would...

Bought some Federal factory seconds in 470 nE

That's always been my understanding too, but in theory it could be any defect. It's possible that cases or bullets could be out of spec in such a way that accuracy is affected, but they wouldn't let ammo that is unsafe out the door.

Bought some Federal factory seconds in 470 nE

I've shot a lot of Federal seconds, mostly 9mm and .40 S&W. But I acquired quite a few boxes of .375 H & H with 260 grain Nosler Accubonds several years ago which shot very accurately in two of my .375 rifles. I’ve used it for deer hunting here in Wisconsin and for plains game in Namibia...

    For the Chapstick guru's

I though I read that the .470 wasn't his, but belonged to the outfitter he PH'd for. But I also thought it was an Evans, not a Lang. My memory isn't what it once was.

Hatari! 60th anniversary; help needed for food ideas

It is. They have prime rib, and upon seeing it Pockets exclaims "Roast beef! My favorite". Looks like carrots, potatoes, and a lettuce salad too. We've decided to do grill some steaks and serve them with carrots, potatoes, and a lettuce salad!

Hatari! 60th anniversary; help needed for food ideas

As has been mentioned, cigarettes and alcohol is what they seem to consume the most of in the movie. I'd forgotten the scene where Pockets steps on the cheetah's tail and spills a plate of food on Sean. It looks like prime rib.

Hatari! 60th anniversary; help needed for food ideas

Hatari! was released on June 19, 1962. To celebrate the 60th anniversary one of my daughters suggested we have a Hatari-themed meal and watch the movie together. I don’t need much of an excuse to watch it, but we’re at a loss as to what to make for the meal. Pockets makes a comment about codfish...

Best magnum rifle reloading press? RCBS Ammomaster2 vs Forster Coax?

I can't speak to either of the presses you listed, but a third choice that works well for me is the Lee Classic Cast. Plenty of height in the frame for the long NE rounds and I like the hard stop at top. It's maybe not the best but it's good enough, and certainly better than my old A2 or...

    Kollmorgan Scopes

Nice rifle. One of the attractions of the Kollmorgan (and Stith) Bear Cub scopes, to me at least, is that you can mount them in a G&H sidemount with the adjustment turrets ahead of the front ring. Jack O'Connor's first .375, a Griffin & Howe on a Model 70, was so equipped with a 2-3/4x. He had a...
