    Holographic or Red Dot sights

Anybody; especially PH's or Game Wardens, have any experience with using these type of sights on bolt action dangerous game rifles? (As I have indicated in previous posts I'm having a 404 Jeff built on a Stainless Win 70 375H&H barreled action.) I have seen them on doubles but rarely on bolt...

Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless In 375 H&H

Sorry I didn't notice the post date. Bummer. You could always buy a wood stock version and order a synthetic style stock from someone. CZ 550's are a nice choice and if memory serves you get 2 extra rounds in the mag. Just for your FYI here is a CZ...

Who owns and uses these calibres

Gotta love forums....one can get some "lively" disussions. No not drunk unfortunately. Can't afford it. I have a big bore calibre addiction.....and the word is squawk using the "Queens" English. Not out to make "enemies"....yet.....just voicing ones opinion ;-) Neat thing about the...

    Big Bore Addiction Group

I have the same addiction. It started when I was 18 or 19. I used to work in a gun store many years ago. One of the owners asked me if I had any large calibre rifles? The largest at that point I had was a. 338 Win Mag. We had just started to bring in BRNO rifles. They had a couple of 270's...

    CZ550 .375 Scope Questions

I wanted to put a scope on a 404 Jeffery I'm having built. I was considering a Leupold VX3 1.5-6x32. This is what the Leupold tech suggested: "First, Although it's an awesome scope, I would not recommend the 1.75-6x32mm to you for your application as it has a very limited elevation and...

Who owns and uses these calibres

I would tend to disagree if you are referring to a .308 Winchester. I would rather have the 7x57 than the .308 plus but the 308 is a boring round...the 7x57 is a classic. If you are talking about the bigger .308 cals then I would agree to a point.

That's what was thinking. I like the Nikon Monarch 3 1-4x20 w/German #4 reticle. Hawke has a Endurance 30 1-4x24 w/L4A Dot Reticle, but they're relatively new so not much info on the review side. The Leupold tech I was talking to in Oregon suggested either a VX-3 1.5-5x20mm, Illuminated or...

    Another "Canuck" from Canada

Yes I had indicated I had a 9.3x62. It's my friends fault (known him for 30+ years, and we hunt whitetail together in Ontario). He asked me if I had anything in between my 8x68 and 375H&H. I said I didn't. He told me I needed a 9.3x62....so I went and bought one. He then asked me if I had...

Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless In 375 H&H

I found one last fall in Alberta, Canada. I'm having it re-barreled to 404 Jeffery. Keep any eye on ProxiBid online auctions. When I was looking I just Googled Winchester Model 70 stainless 375H&H. Just saw this one...

I really like Nikon scopes especially the Monarch 3's of which I have several. I like the fact that Nikon makes it's own glass for the optics and you're not guessing where it was made. I also have a couple of Zeiss HD5 scopes and there is very little difference in optic quality between the...

Who owns and uses these calibres

I have a 7x57 Mauser which is similar to the 275 Rigby. I also have a CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. I hope in the not too distant future to do a Cape Buffalo hunt. I would probably bring two calibres...my 9.3 and 404 Jeffery. I also have a BRNO 602 375H&H, CZ 550 416 Rigby and CZ 550 450 Rigby but am...

    Another "Canuck" from Canada

Looking for suggestions as to what scope to put on a 404 Jeffery I'm having built. It is being built on a stainless Winchester Model 70 donor barreled action in 375H&H. I was thinking about something along the lines of a 1-4x20 with German #4 post reticle, or a red dot holographic sight of some...
