Wanted Ruger 10/22 With Bull Barrel

Get a bolt buffer as well, it makes a difference. I forget who, may be on Pike, but there is a 3 pack of recoil springs - heavy, med, light. For Subsonic I use the light, and it cycles perfectly.

Wanted Ruger 10/22 With Bull Barrel

Genesis, Yup, same receiver. I got one of the Brownells receivers with integrated rail last year and did a similar build. Used a Hogue over-mold bull barrel stock, and got the rest of the parts from Pike Arms I think. Spend the money and get a good metal trigger group. The plastic one's...

270 Winchester better than 7mm mag?

.280 Rem As mentioned earlier, fantastic in-between caliber. I've had/used one since the mid 80's as my primary rifle. Taken moose, elk, deer. Choose the right weight bullet and you've got a true multi-purpose caliber here. Ohh, used it in stands at ranges as short as 50m, and open ground...

    Mine or Theirs?

JP, Interesting problem. Can we say that for the purposes of this discussion, you are going in the next 4-6 months? If we can, then I would speak with my outfitter/PH and find out what they personally are seeing. Stories are great, but it's always, "I heard of a guy...". So, unless I had a...

1989 Land Rover Defender At Auction Orlando FL

Yup, Even the other driver was ok - thankfully. The best part was when we rung her dad right after the accident, and his first words were, "did she run another stop sign?" The Classic's are just that, classic. I've had P38 Rangies, Disco I, II, and the III, as well as the aforementioned fleet...

1989 Land Rover Defender At Auction Orlando FL

@NS - Spot On! While not one of my Defenders, here's the LR3 from a couple of years ago. Girl ran a stop sign in front of us, and the pictures tell the rest of the story. We drove the truck home, our air bags didn't even deploy. Still driving the truck today with 193,000 miles on it.

The 243 Winchester for Australian Game

We shoot 243 in Georgia on pigs and deer with great success. Hawk is spot on, right weight/type bullet for the right game, and shot placement. Learn the rifle, and take shots you are comfortable with.

    Moving Sale

Sounds like we've had the same employer... If this place doesn't work out, we're selling it as a complete package, down to the silverware, and heading to the next place with a backpack and a roll on suitcase.

1989 Land Rover Defender At Auction Orlando FL

Yup. I've never had to pull a Land Rover, especially a Defender with a land Cruiser. One of mine was sitting in storage for the last few years, put a fresh battery in it, and it fired on the 1st turn of the key. The one we drive on the farm goes through 2 feet of snow, mud, stumps everything.

1989 Land Rover Defender At Auction Orlando FL

HA! Totally agree NS, proper Landy's have the steering on the right side. I have 3 various models (90-110) here in the colonies, and still have a 90 in the UK. They all start every time, and will go anywhere I want them to go, and even some places they shouldn't.

    Moving Sale

Congrats on selling all the 6.5CM. I had a feeling it would go. So, I'm a couple hours north of where you're going. Drove 2 x 26' box trucks, 2 trailers, and then 2 more vehicles with car trailers - epic move from NC to here last June. Absolutely understand not wanting to schlep extra...

    Poor Man's Double Rifle

IvW, Fantastic read and great discussion that follows. In fact, I enjoyed your post so much, that's why I joined AH. I have been watching the board for a while and this legitimately made me join. The fact you have done so much work (hunting) with this set-up proves that there are many...
