I use Talley detachables on both CZs , 416 Rigby & 375 H&H without a problem. They latch right in and stay. If there’s a scope problem , just switch using an empty shell casing to tighten or loosen.
If I'm taking one rifle on all those hunts its ole reliable-the CZ 375. Overkill? No sir! That moose and all other on that list (except turkey) can be done with any .30 cal but the CZ 375 is just my go to. Fill it with Barnes and call it a day. My CZ 375 has been with me from here to Africa and...
We just wrapped up another trip to Pieter Lamprecht's Cruiser Safari outside Thabazimbi Limpopo. Easy pick-up and nice drive north through some incredible scenery. I first hunted with Pieter in early 2011, and his properties and concessions never disappoint. From being met at the truck upon...
I have just returned today from a 10 day with Pieter Lamprecht’s Cruiser Safari’s in Limpopo just outside Thabazimbi. I took my 10 & 14 year olds. I hunted Buffalo of which he has a really good quality abundance of and my sons did a plains game hunt. His sable are some of the best I’ve seen. He...
I hope it is smooth. I anticipate it will be. Hopefully my wife enjoys some aspects of the trip. My kids will love it. They’ve wanted to come with me every time.
I have both 416 Rigby & 375 H&H , both are CZ 550's. Both will do what you are asking of them and more. My take is CZ or Mauser action. If CZ, try to get AHR rifle used. There was one at Hendershots in Maryland recently in 375. Theres also an H-S Precision in 416 at Hendershots, I think...
This year’s trip will be the first time bringing my 14 & 10 year old boys as well as my wife that does not hunt to South Africa with Cruiser Safari's. My sons have been hunting since they were able to come with me (that was as soon as diapers were not necessary). My oldest has hunted Wyoming...
My go to is Afton Guest House. I first stayed with them in 2010 or 11 and its never let me down. They are waiting on you when you arrive just after picking up your luggage and its an easy ride not far from airport. I'll be there in a couple days.
I've alway flown Delta (ATL) or United (NY) out of the US to Joburg Africa and had no issues putting the bolt in the gun case but not in the gun. Never put it in checked bags, never had any issues.
I had the pleasure of working with Celia Cuffy Brown, Liberia's Director of the National Housing Authority in the early 2000's just before her appointment to Director of Liberia's National Port Authority. Quite an experience and a really good time. She introduced me to a variety of foods that we...
I put a Bell & Carlson on one of my CZ 550’s in .375 and it’s lighter. Good for carrying on long stalks. Little rub with 600 grit & the action dropped right in. Your 416 look great as is but Bell & Carlson make a pretty good stock.
It's in the airport. I printed the form at home, filled it out and went there with the firearms. They looked at the serial numbers and signed the form. Easy in and out in 20 minutes. Did have to pay for parking.
Good info. I just did the new form with the expiration date because I lost the old one. I'm going to Limpopo in June. I did mine at IAH in Houston and had no issues. Good folks, helpful and fast. Hopefully my return home is smooth.
I am going to get a 416 or 458 for Buffalo. I have only used my CZ in 375 H&H thus far & now have my oldest son going with me in June. He will use my CZ.
That’s what my thoughts were but having never owned a 700 anything I wanted opinions before I passed on what looked like a great deal. Thanks for the input. I’m going to stick with my CZ, and model 70’s for big bore.
I am of the same opinion. I rely on my CZ 550 in 375 H&H. It is just reliable. This Remington 700 looked like a really good deal for a 458 but I am going to pass. Model 70, CZ & Mauser actions are it for me too. Thanks for the input.
