I don’t think you could go wrong with either brand. I’ve used both without issues.

United from EWR-JNB no firearms as of today

We flew through Frankfurt in 2018 and had to recheck into Air Namibia. We grabbed our bags and gun case, went to the items to declare side of customs and he took the case and walked us to the counter.

If the CAA is requiring an additional permit why is it only affecting United and not Delta flights?

Is the sako 85 safari a good rifle?

I think a lot of the ejection issues come from operating the bolt slowly. I have an 85 in 7mm RM. if I worked the bolt normally it has no issue, but if I’m at the range and work much slower than it won’t eject properly. I also feel some people are expecting that big Mauser style ejection sending...

    .308 Rifle help

With your budget it allows many brands to choose from. Play with them at your local shop see how each one shoulders and feels to your body. Some have more options to change LOP and comb height so that may factor in as well. All the brands you mention have been good shooters for me. Good luck on...

    Drop in 700 stock?

That’s going to be a tall order for a drop in. A youth model will get you the LOP your after, but most likely will be for a hinged floor plate. Bell and Carlson makes a 700 BDL WBY style but again, hinged floor plate and also outside your LOP. Best of luck

    Thinking about a new .30—06

With you wanting to shoot 200-220gr bullets that would rule out a Tikka or a Sako. It’d be tough to pass on the M70 extreme. A little above what you where wanting to spend. The Vanguard is a good choice for the price point. Not sure how the newer ones shot after they made the change to resemble...

    GPS Recommendations?

Not sure where you’ll be at, but it’s good to download the entire area from OnX and have it on the phone. Never know about cell coverage. Non-Wood stocks?

I’m a fan of Bell and Carlson stocks. They’re fiberglass and have a full length aluminum bedding block. They weigh in at roughly 2lbs. I’ve used them on Tikka, Ruger, and CZ. All tightened up the grouping with the same loads as stock.

    Backpacks

Barney’s for sure. If you’re packing a lot of weight I don’t think you can beat a Barney’s pack from Anchorage. A good amount of guides use them here. Packing a rear moose quarter sucks, but sucks less with a Barney’s. Their pack distributes the weight nicely. I also have a Kuiu icon pro 5200...

    375 H&H vs 375 Ruger for everything

I agree with Challer. Both are capable of taking all. The issue is if you are not a hand loader the Ruger will be limited by ammo manufactures.

    Soft Gun Case

For typical use I use the cheap Allen soft gun case from Walmart. They seem to fit a scoped CZ 550 with ease. The rubber cutouts in Land Cruiser seem different between manufactures. In Alaska I go with a floating waterproof case. That one came in handy Sunday when my face ate the river bank and...

    Scopes for safari rifles

There are so many quality options to choose from. Personally I default to Leupold for most my rifles. They’re light, rugged, and the warranty is a nice add-on. The VX-5 1-5 is what I run on a CZ 416 Rigby. It does what I need it to do. 1-6 Trijicon is on another option that works very well and...

    6.5 Creedmoor

I bought a Savage 110 ultralight for the spouse. It groups Nosler 140 AB 1.2” at 200. My Ruger does just about the same with 143 ELD-X. Both factory ammo. Coworker uses a 6.5CM with 140 AB for moose in interior Alaska.

10mm auto new pistol which one?

I’d be interested in the BRNO with the 10mm barrel. The 7.5mm ammo could be a limiting factor. It also may be a bit heavy to carry as a backup will hunting in some areas. I think I’d try it if I could hold it prior to buying.

    Rusty Stainless Montana Rifle

A reaction would seem plausible, but it’s only this rifle. There are plenty of other stainless/blued buddies along side him in the safe.
