I had the pleasure of returning to South Africa to hunt with @NICK BOWKER SAFARIS however, this time was a special trip with my stepfather joining me as he retired just after my first trip.
As anticipated we were greeted promptly in Port Elizabeth by Ryan and Rob, the other hunter in camp for this trip. The three of us had some great menus. My stepfather originally came for Zebra, Kudu, Nyala, Warthog, Impala, Blesbok, and Impala. The beauty of the Oryx caught his eye and was added to his list in short order. My list had a couple animals that I failed to do my part on the last trip, Kudu and Black Wildebeest. The errors I mad last hunt would not be repeated, hence the Revenge Tour. I also had White Blesbok, Common Blesbok, Mountain Reedbuck, Springbok, and Warthog. There was another animal on my mind the whole flight and probably for a week before we left. This is very reminiscent of the previous trip where I had added a Red Hartebeest.
We chose to bring our rifles with us, my stepfather with his 30-06 and to bring revenge full circle I brought my 338WM I had used on the first safari back in 2024. We both were running Barnes TTSX bullets and had abundant successes we both were successful on going 8 for 8. I will say the stepfather was a one shot magician and I started strong, however things were not perfect near the end.
The accommodations were perfect and the service was always better than it should have been. Food and drink was abundant. I hunted with Ben and my stepfather with Nick. With our lists I was not prepared to hunt a lot with my stepfather but Nick and Ben made it happen numerous times. All in all I can not put to words the way we feel about this outfitter, the PH's, and the staff. They truly have made a friendship I cannot replace. They have shared in my failures and successes, that is why we chose to hunt here again.
I will let the photos below speak for themselves when it comes to trophy quality. I have not shared my stepfather's trophies but they were just as impressive and proper representations of the species. I hope you can easily figure out which trophy was the one I added and the 338 WM did it's job.
